I'm getting less of a "she plans to hunt them down" vibe and more of a "it's Caiatl's opinion that the ahamkara be returned to extinction, and if another hunt does happen, then the cabal would lend their aid" kinda vibe.

"They were always in contest with us, never in cooperation..." Hm makes me think about that one civilization the Hive had wiped out, The Harmony, who were said to be allied with Ahamkara at that time. Curious if the Ahamkara's nature was different at that time and changed after arriving in Sol.

Now this was some heavy lore. Saladin’s dialogue can be so memorable. I’d like to point out another important point: the Hive destroyed an entire race that had a respectful relationship with the Ahamakara, the Priests which watched over the dragons. They and the Ahamakara fought aginst the Hive. Though the Hive may have killed the dragons to be as few as there were before the Great Hunt, it’s still proof that a co-operative relationship with the dragons can work.

See I just want our Guardian to take the wish dragons on a field trip to the dreaming city and the black garden to show them the story of Riven and Taranis and perhaps visit Taranis’ remains so he can meet them. If anyone tries to hurt the whims, I will turn them into the new touch of malice.

I love how we see Caiatl is a compassionate but strong leader for her people, and even those who aren't her people.

I now want to season where we get like a similar thing to where we had to pick a side between the drifter and the Vanguard, but instead, will you pick a side between protecting the dragons and hunting them with the cabal.

I’m loving the Ahamkara videos. Within fantasy contexts I can never get into the idea of dragons for some reason but something about the Paracausal Wish aspects of these beasts enamors me

Loved this reading of the cabal council. To me it was giving a bit of the Covenant and Prophets vibe from Halo 2 and really makes me want to see it in “live action” the way the Master Chief collection did.

Right off the bat, story recap on season of the Wish

5:48 I have to agree with Tha'arec here. How many of these seasonal stories have we had where we needed to make a devil's bargain with someone or something that is highly likely to bite us in the butt? Riven, Savathûn, arguably Taken!Sloane... heck, even Clovis Bray, to fill out a year's worth of examples.

The conclusion of this video would make a great set up for a whole other game. After the events of Light and Dark Saga, you basically have a fresh start with a morally ambiguous plot - support the Progeny (Mara), or support extinction (Empress). The story has loads of opportunities for faction splitting, and different combat opportunities from small skirmishes to large battles. It would essentially be this universes civil war (after being united through battling the witness). We could also get some flash backs to the first great hunt. I wonder if Bungie has ever considered spin off games with all this lore!?!

I'm wondering if a living Ahamkara is obliged to accept every wish, whether out of loyalty or because they want to twist it around and feed on it more? I think Riven declined because she had nothing to gain since she was dead already. If that is the case, and we're teaching these Ahamkara the difference between right and wrong, then we not only teach them to grant wishes the right way, but also not to grant wishes to those that have the intention to harm others

Remember what Saladin said, “Mercy for the enemy should not come at the cost of mercy for their victims.”

I like to think that the offspring we save will end up imprinting on us while still within the egg, being aware and sentient while within the egg. I’d like to think that once they hatch and we give it a name, it will sacrifice its physical form and take house within us. Maybe we could even end up causing a lot of stuff The Witness can’t quite counter.

From the biblical point of " the sins of the fathers shall fall on their sons" is somewhat where caitl and Saladin are coming from, but i believe that if crow can be involved in their upbringing as well as Osiris and possibly ikora, they can be taught differently, yes these creatures are powerful, but that's not a reason to extinguish what remains of them.. the same as hefund, she wasn't evil, she befriended a guardian before that guardian was slain..

So how do ahamkara actually “eat”. Is it literally just the act of granting wishes that gives them sustenance, and the bigger the wish the more “filling” it is?

I still wonder if the ahamkara could feed from the difference in wishes, but in a positive manner. If they could make a “you got even more than you wished for” work for them. After everything we have learned about the ahamkara, it doesn’t ever seem apparent that the difference must be suffering, just simply that a lot of deals were easy to twist in that way.

The oldest Cabal myth is literally, "Mans wanted the moon, he took the moon, the end." These are not a people that vocalize what they want (Calus notwithstanding). They just go and *take* it. So at least, in a worst case scenario, their Hunt would go smoother than ours.

So if we “allow” the ahamkara to live does that mean the good ones aren’t hunted and those who manipulate are killed? Who decides what wish is manipulated? Would there be a council, and if so would an ahamkara sit and decide whether another of its kind is killed off? Maybe we could limit wishes or somehow police what wishes are allowed to be made.

For final shape to be truely epic we need for one or more of our Ally leaders to die. I want Mithrax to become first Eliksni Guardian after dying a heroic death. If Caital Survives then the mission to retake her Homeworld needs to be one of the next lot of Episodes if it's not part of Heresy. I like the idea of losing alot of if not most of the locations we currently have battling the Witness and making Way for brand new Planets/locations for Episodes. Then at some point we're gonna have to focus on the Nine.

All this talk about how the faction leaders may react to a post-Witness world, especially w/r/t the Awoken being OP, puts me in mind of a scene between two characters in the webcomic _Schlock Mercenary._ In the aftermath of an operation where the two, themselves leaders of nations, inadvertently collaborated, one offers asylum to the other for their crimes against a 3rd nation, to make the relationship more official. (Most pertinently: theft of a superweapon that could penetrate any defense) The line in specific (which I've paraphrased here) is the response: "I am the only known check on your power. Even if our goals aligned, it would be dangerous for me to accept." If Mara gets more powerful, this is how I suspect relations between her and the Vanguard to cool. We're friends, on paper, but we need to maintain a stalemate between us lest one spiral out of control. And furthermore, if we wish to maintain that stalemate, we need to ruthlessly crush any potential upset to that balance. Easy enough when it's the Hive or Vex. Probably not so easy when it's, say, Caiatl, or House Light.

One thing that I think is a bit of a plot hole is we never really gauge how much power an ahamkara "loses" in death if any and furthermore how much a guardian's power amplifies its power alive or dead. I mean we did get a lore tab that Ikora almost made a wish that would have destroyed the universe if a certain grenade launcher wielding titan hadn't punched her hard enough to knock her out. It brings me back to the reoccurring theme that power doesn't corrupt but corrupt people misuse power. Look at the warlords, the hive, mara, guardians misusing stasis and the light (as seen in the trials lore) ect. My point is the ahamkara will always be a threat because they are an unchecked power but imo more consideration should be put into properly training all guardian's about the risks of dealing with ahamkara and creating a better culture in the ranks when it comes to dealing with godlike beings. You have to remember it wasn't just Riven or Savathun's plans that made the curse on the dreaming city happpen; it was also the unending desire of 6 power-hungry guardian's wishing for loot and the death of riven.

what if in the future, they make a destiny that's totally different from what we have now. No cabal, no fallen, no hive, and new types of enemies. it just seems like they're setting something like that up

Don't forget that the Former-Cabal-Emporer Calus also utilized a Wish-dragon remains to get his way until Caital crushed it.

Perhaps it is Guardians and Cabal that must be hunted this time if it is they whom cannot be trusted with such limitless power.

Honestly because of our actions I don't think we can side against Mara and the Whims. We are already pretty much bound to be their protectors. Because of what we did involving the Bow and our involvement with Riven, we made a promise (well the queen did but we were there) and we as The Guardian keep our promises... just ask Ghaull, ooh wait... ok just ask Calus.. oh nope nope... ok I got it, just ask Savathun if we stick to our word. That is if she doesn't flinch when you come around the corner mistaking you for St. 14 for a split second.

I somehow really like what they are going for. Ahamkara are not the real threat. It's ourselves. And the best thing we can do is cruel, making living and intelligent creatures into objects that can be destroyed at will, just so that we don't drive ourselfs a knife into the back, because we are that selfish. Shaxx really had it all figured out, not wanting to kill them really is the best action. Neither killing or treating them like objects will ever do us any good, since we never got rid of the problem. But it is also a Problem we cannot get rid of. Best we can do is teach the new generation as best we can, to hope they wont make the mistakes we did
