. This is a fast way to build up lots of rare engrams and occasionally a Legendary engram. UPDATE Been patched, check out my loot cave 2.0 video.Legendary engrams can turn into exotic gear. Start the The Dark Beyond mission on the Moon and after the checkpoint a door will open. Destroy all the thrall's behind the door and then kill yourself to the Knight. Rinse and Repeat. I'm not going to stop ya'll, but farming engrams has to be to most boring, and ineffective way to obtain legendary gear. It takes up too much time, and most of the time the Cryptarch will decode them either into ascendant materials or into an armor piece for another class (Hunter/Warlock/Titan). If you really want Legendary gear do strikes, do bounties, get Vanguard Marks, and rank up your Vanguard rep to get Legendary gear. But if you find this more effective that's you, but you should work hard for your gear so you can proudly say, "Yeah I worked my ass off for this shit." Not, "Yeah I farmed lots of hours to get this."

Farming lots of hours is hard work. What makes grinding Strikes any different than this? Does having a bullet sponge really add "difficulty"? The simple fact that you can easily get more Marks than you can even carry before you can even use them because EVERYTHING REQUIRES rank 2 or 3 in whatever faction you're buying from makes grinding those Strikes even more of a grind and unappealing. Not to mention you're capped on how many marks you can get each week, REQUIRING at least 2 weeks worth of Marks for any ONE weapon or Helmet. Farming may be boring and super grindy, but the simple fact that you're only really limited by how much time you want to put into it makes it worthwhile in the long run. Even if it's only supplementary to your Legendary Faction purchases.

FF7Niteblade I find simply playing the game like we're meant more rewarding. I got two Legendary engrams this week by simply doing what I usually do. In comparison to "farming" I only get two or three decoherent engrams every hour. Speaking of dechoerents I turned four or five of those into legendaries maybe six in my overall playing time just by simply playing the game like I was meant to.

Rocky Cadena Why is there only ever one way to play a game and everything else is "wrong" or "unintended"? For the most part, yes farming is virtually worthless at this point because of the constant patches to drop rates, but If I really feel like still playing Destiny after I've finished all my daily bounties and such, farming is a decent option. There's the chance for engrams, Glimmer, bonuses in the Grimiore... Or you could just farm chests.

FF7Niteblade Well the only downside to just simply playing the game is that the chances of getting an Exotic is slim to none whereas farming engrams you got a better chance of getting an Exotic out of a legendary. Kind of makes me sad :(

Farming is only good when you have rare armour/guns. Or when you are under level 20. If you are above level 20 I suggest that you do strikes,raids and bounties for your armour.

On patrol in Old Russia there is a door you can wait at to the left of the crashed space ship, the enemies just keep spawning wave after wave, each wave gets harder, buffering up your gun stats and gilmore cards, plus it wont effect your kd, i did this for about 20 mins and pulled in 4 blue engrams, also collect spinmetal every chance you get as you will need lots to upgrade legendary weapons

If you want even more Glimmer while doing this you can use your Black Wax Idols. They give glimmer when killing Hive enemies.

If you do happen to kill the knughts, you can go back to orbit and reload the mission. You start back at the temple.

Literaly almost everyone I see complaining say that they never get legendary gear form legendary engrams, yet when I got my first and only 2 legendary engrams I got legendary gear from both of them.

May I just note everyone that yestrday (15th April) I got a rare engram at level 25 (May affect any level above 20) I went to the cryptarch to encrypt it. As I did I got a Legendary Weapon called "The Chance" Which is an FWC Handcannon. So if you do want a legendary weapon (Not sure of armor) You can either purchase it, find a drop or be lucky enough to get a rare engram that so happens to have what you're looking for. I was in FWC but I gave up since my Vanguard was more easier to do than FWC but I somehow got the weapon I wanted.

I use the farming method on Earth with the hive spawning out of the cave. I got a Legendary drop and took it back to the Cryptarch and got another crappy blue gun but I levelled up my Cryptarch level and got another Legendary from the Postmaster. I took it to the Cryptarch and got an Exotic Rocket Launcher. The game made up for the first crappy gun :-).

I didn't use this trick but I was rep. grinding on Earth (new to Destiny here) and I just decided to randomly kill a few enemies before going back to orbit and got my first legendary engram from a vandal and got a legendary helmet out of it, it was pretty cool.

Man, i hate that they made warlocks so terrible in this game. I leveled up and he is just the weakest class. Terrible grenades. Every other class has awesome grenades. The warlock has a shitty grenade that makes a void bomb but that is its best grenade and its the first one! The other two never kill an enemy, never. Then you can switch to the other subclass and he becomes all teamwork and no badass. The fucking super doesnt even give you anything you can kill with. It makes melee a little stronger and gives you faster grenades which fucking suck anyway. Why the fuck would they make an ability which seems to do more for the teammates than the player. I wish i could have something destructive or game changing like a shoulder melee, knife, blink melee anything! Titans can get magnetic grenades and a barrier. Hunters have arc blade and a whole plethora of shit. But what does a warlock get? If you aim in air you can hold still for a second. Why the fuck would i wanna hang in midair in a game where that is the easiest fucking target? Every powerup a warlock gets only cools down a damn grenade which cant even get a kill unless some idiot stays in the same place and lets it kill them. Im so fucking disappointed. I should have gone hunter. I would make a new character but i know he will get matched up with lvl 26 guys in the crucible. Thanks a lot bungie

jay wood well then it's obvious that you change to void walker for pvp and whichever you want for pve. I myself find that void walker is amazing in pvp. Your not supposed to rely on your grenades for kills but the axiom bolts and the scatter grenade are both good for pvp. Even if it doesn't kill them it takes their shield out quickly and at a distance then you finish them with a few bursts of a weapon or run up and bitch slap them in the face. Also warlocks have blink, which is super annoying for the enemy.

Number one, warlocks use blink instead of glide and it doesnt do damage or save you from it. Also, i have never died from a sticky grenade

Just work toward vanguard 2 and buy it. The 100 marks a week cap does suck though but can still get vanguard exp.

Just play the queens wrath. Gives you legendary armor every mission. Warning have to be level 24 or higher.

Spent around an hour doing this, got around 2K kills total and a full inventory of uncommon engrams and one rare heavy weapon engram. Don't waste your time. Run the Vault.

Keep at it bro :) loot farming for engrams is actually pointless when you've already got mostly everything. Only thing I can get to increase me is raid boots. Then I'll be level 30. Pretty pointless doing anything else tbh as I can't gain any rewards apart from nightfall, raid or xur.... Which is a negative and destiny hopefully will make better and more thins to do and more rewards. Maybe even something about the level system.

Honestly I just do strikes back to back. If you stick with a team for awhile y'all will naturally start running through the missions faster and you'll get at least 3 engrams per strike usually. I play till my inventory is full of blue engrams and then turn them all in at one time. Once I started doing this I naturally started to see more legendary gear just because I stopped wasting time going back n forth to the tower and doing crucible matches that didn't yield anything promising.

Just an FYI . . . you don't have to be above Cryptarch level 5 to get a legendary engram from him when you level up . . . I got one when I went from level 3 to 4.

changing the difficulty changes how strong the gear is that drops. Being a higher level grants higher odds of legendaries and rares

Every loot cave and engram possible farming location has been patched by this point. Even Tiger strikes only give you MAYBE five in an hour.

Im goin out on a limb here...now this may not be totally true BUT I think that if the more enemies you kill at one time in a clump or group I think you have a better chance of getting a purple... Im telling you that this method here on moon works better than earth for that reasonyou kill a clump of adds more than on earth.. anyone disagree or agree??? Take a sec and think the last few legendaries you've gotten. was it from a group kill of 3 or more adds or not. for me definetly

I think I have come to a conclusion that chryptarch engrams are better than regular ones, for example, in my playtime of Destiny I have gotten at least 200 rare engrams. and about 10 from chryptarch. Out of 200 story engrams, zero legends. Out of 10 chryptarch engrams, 3 legends. I don't know if it's true but I believe it is from my results.

The best way to farm legendary to me is to do vanguard roc over and over when u get enough blue decoherent engrams talk to that dude and level up your reputation get the thing from mail and there u go

This has been patched. Only items you're going to get are random white gear, and consumables. Confirmed this after dying 60 times, one green during this time. Not worth it, unless farming for glimmer.

Also this still work he's honestly doing it wrong you should stay back around the stairs where it respawns you at the ending of the cut screen but like I said the loot cave is my farming method

OK not many viewers, especially new ones that might subscribe, will read the description before viewing the video, and may spend hours, trying this. Please change your title to at least include the fact that a patch was done and this works infrequently for Legendary now.

Great video but I do want to point on one mistake. You said you cant get Legendary items until you lvl 20+. I received my first (And currently only) legendary item at lvl 17. It was the Doctor Nope auto rifle. I had to hold on to it until twenty but I did have it.

The most reliable way is to get level 2 reputation from a faction, this takes 2 days when wearing the representing item. Then each week, max out crucible points. This only takes 1 to 2 days. Then boom, you get 1 piece of gear of your choice per week. Now do the weekly strikes for strange coins, you can get up to 27 per week *if you use 3 characters level 27 or higher, easy way is to get 3 level 20's and transfer gear to hit high light levels.* but anyway, you only need 13 to get an exotic helm from xur. There you have it, 3 weeks and you have all legendary and an exptic helm. Little to no effort. So stop wasting your time endlessly shooting at a damn cave to get a legendary engram that probably wont even help you.

This doesn't work anymore, the patch causes engrams to drop at extremely low rates for a "short time" after dying during a mission... thus they patched this farm.

I found legendary item each farming the my style method i use is do kill them until total 1,000 because i get one legendary per 1,000 kills. Up to you to keep going after 1,000 kills or go back orbit but mostly i am go orbit after 1,000 due lot items and decode items

Quantum Melts your level i believe affects the the ilvl....meaning at lvl 24 your gonna be getting lvl 20 items and rarely will you get anything lower than that...

30 min. 1 blue engram + tons of greens. With more deaths the drop rate subsided and was non existent. It's been patched it seems.

This has been kind of patched. They decreased the likeliness of drops each time you die when on strikes.

What level are you at that point..? Also do you have to be level 20 before you can get rare to lengdary weapons

no difficulty shouldn't matter, you have the same chance from a low level kill as a boss.

Does it matter what level you do it on? I'm a level 24, I did it on level 9 I think and seemed to get only green gear/ammo and pretty much nothing for the cryptarch, would the higher difficulty pay off better?

Once u finish farming do u have to complete the stage before turning in the engrams or can you exit back to tower

I think this is stupid, in my opinion. If you want legendary armor or legendary weapons just level up at vanguard or dead orbit for example. There are a little percent to find a legendary engram, and if you find it probably, the cryptarch doesn't give you the legendary gear. But well, this method is good if you want level up at the cryptarch. He sometimes give you legendary things.

there is a better location for farming. during the xür urn quest, in last step you're headed to the world's grave to kill the forsaken and get its eyes. on the first wave at lvl30 there is about 30 thralls coming for you, and you can easily wipe them with crota sword. the only disadvantage is that as long as you want to use this spot you won't be able to complete quest and won't receive legendary pauldrons.

How did you get the sunsinger grenades? I'm on level 20 and still the abilities of sunsinger isn't working. Do you have to play on sunsinger to get the grenades?
