It honestly makes me feel better that CGB admits the mono blue deck tilts him. Literally like the only time I have ever lost it and started yelling at the screen was a heavy counter intensive game against mono blue the other day where I screeched out a win by the skin of my teeth

It cannot be stated how much I love torch breath right now, thanks to mono blue. Every time I cast it there is this beautifully long pause as I watch the card light up, letting me know my mono blue companion is reading my card, slowly realizing they can’t counter it and that their djinn is going to the grave. Next turn they play another, and I cast another torch breath. Then they explode.

@@francoisgagnonlemieux3135 you won't find a lot of mono blue in BO3. A lot of those fraud gimmicky decks don't survive in a format where people get to sideboard. Their biggest advantage is catching you by surprise

It seems to me that some people misread Lilianna's -2 ability to be that they get to choose the creature, I've noticed it a few times on your videos. Watch as they look at Lil and then a creature they want removed

I notice that all the time too! But I also notice that it isn't always the creature they want, sometimes it's the one they expect to be sacked. Almost like they are showing me which creature I'm about to lose lmao.

That happens to me a lot too. They'll be highlighting one of my creatures, -2 Liliana, I sac a worse creature than what they were looking at, and then I'll see them highlighting their Lili.

I think it's because they need to target the player, and to do that they move their mouse upwards and non intentionally cover over a creature

Interesting theory. I have seen this a number of times and always thought my opponent was trolling me by trying to get me to chose incorrectly which one to sacrifice. Sorta like trying to get me to mis-click over the creature that was suddenly highlighted on my screen. I may be wrong.

Forget mono black, do a anti-blue deck. I played 8 games this morning in standard. Every single one was against a blue centered counter everything style deck. It’s truly awful and just not a lot of fun to play standard as of late.

I'm back on Bant Control. I've tried Esper & Sultai but currently back in Bant. I have been enjoying Offer You Can't Refuse as a one mana negate since most of my opponents don't have much to do with the extra mana. I'm higher on Dismissal for the exile than EScorn atm but it's in the mix.

I have a deck that is right now at 62% 64% on play 60% on draw but I feel like it can do much better and I'm missing something . 91 matches so far and I feel I know how to play it well , but there's a slot I can't seem to fill properly and wanna know your input if you'd be willing to help. On the second mono-U game, I don't understand why you didn't storm the festival before combat since they were showing March. Stacking up blockers was probably much more correct than forcing the March in hopes of them not having follow-up

At 16:20 you could have -1 to get a samurai to block Underdog. And then attack with Trespasser to throw him away. You'd still have Wandering but only 6 hp. Or I might be missing something.

My questions from the technically right corner is do the pain lands facilitate the mana base in such a way that makes this deck actually work? (Ie: would this deck work or be as effective without them?)

Historically Pain lands have been worth playing. Besides you won’t always need to generate colored mana from them as this plays multiple mana dorks

That brings to mind: Why is almost every "x can't be countered" spell in this standard blue, but only for the ditto? The only other ones that come to mind are Torch breath and a meme card.

Wait?? @ 19:57. How did he block and then tap that blocked creature for mana? Has that always been a mechanic?

He assigned the block first, then tapped it. Does not matter if the creature is tapped or not once the "fight" is assigned, thats why you can use fight spells on tapped creatures you control, or why you can assign blocks, then sac the blocking creature and the block still counts

I believe it’s because Storm let’s you put cards directly onto the battlefield and not cast them, bypassing ward completely.

No, you aren't. You just attach it to the creature.

@@jtmotley8848 You're correct. While aura spells need a target upon casting, putting auras straight onto the battlefield lets you attach them without targetting, bypassing ward (as well as hexproof or shroud). Blinking auras also works out this way.

I faced this exact deck without knowing it was yours (although I kinda suspected it). And checking times, it was merely minutes after you uploaded the video. By the way, I was playing mono black, opponent had Emperor, Wrenn, Vampire, Wedding, a 7/7 threefolk, and even took my Graveyard Trespasser, and I won, so...

Blessed be mono Blue bringing pain to this midrange grindy value train meta where players cast haymaker after haymaker. It's just boring to face the same playstyle every match where the only thing that changes is the colors of the deck. Miss guilds of ravnica block standard where aggro, control and midrange all had their place and power level was toned down.
