Great video as always. Thank you. With 27 lands in a 60 card deck your percentages for lands in the starting hand are: zero: 1% one: 8% two: 22% three: 31% four: 25% five: 11% six: 3% So in fact you should have three or more lands around 70% of the time - meaning that in close two every third game you'll have two or fewer lands. Let's say you have two lands in your starting hand. On the play, your chance of missing the third land by turn three is around 27%. If you mulligan, that percentage goes down to 21%. On the draw your chance of missing the third land by turn three is around 14%. If you mulligan, that percentage goes down to 13%. So, solely based on needing three lands on turn three (without taking into account the quality and quantity of the other cards), you should always mulligan a two lander with that deck.

@@paulheynen1049 for the initial starting hand land probabilities no. According to the hand smoothing algorithm it should look like this: zero:- one: 1% two: 15% three: 53 % four: 29% five: 4% six:- However, when you already have drawn a starting hand with two lands, the smoothing algorithm is out of the equation, when you do not mulligan. So the conclusion would be the same. If you absolutely need three lands by turn three you should mulligan a two land starting hand.

Look! Another deck with Fable of the Mirror Breaker. Its red, so obviously it needs fable. If it wasn't a red deck, it would be better as a red deck, because fable would then fit into the deck.

I've found that going up to 27 lands in Jund reanimator / high midrange lists seems ideal - getting mana screwed *very* rarely

Its good that Mono Blue is around because something needs to make Mono Black come down to earth a bit. The thing is Mono Black is a very beatable deck because like CGB said, 3 color Value decks can easily outlast Mono Black.

I've been having a pretty good time vs mono black with an orzhov sacrifice list abusing Elas il kor. A significant amount of black's removal is sacrifice, which is exactly what I want to do. They are 2-1ing themselves with invoke etc.

I've played one game against Jund Wndgrace in this Standard (before today - I'm sure it'll be everywhere now that there's a CGB video). My reaction after that game was, "this has to be the strongest thing you can be doing in Standard." It felt like every card the opponent played was twice as good as anything I was doing. Especially since Windgrace can take advantage of the Liliana plus in a way that most other decks in Standard can't right now. I'm not sure The Cruelty of Gix is better here than another 5 mana reanimation spell such as Diregraf Rebirth or Graveyard Shift. It seemed like you were always playing it just for the last chapter.

Very close to my build, I have 2 meat hooks as there are many times I need to play it twice in a match . I like 1 burn down the house for the flexibility. The tear asunder , March and soul transfer are great 1/1$

28:52 maybe if you baited him with liliana & if they counter it you reanimate a titan , or get removal pay 3 then get titan , but it's really hard to predict what the op has in hand , so yeah it's really frustrating to play against it , you've created a monster CGB now you have to deal with it too . PS : I love this channel & those deck list , but that mono blue is a real pain to play against , & thought when they rotated ruin crab & goldspan we'll finally get an era of peace & freedom ( and some dispair it's fine ) and then comes that Jin :(

Don't know what happened, but I think any deck mid-range-control should play 25 or even 26 lands. My UW Control runs 26 and sometimes I still get mana screwed.

I've played the mono-blue deck quite a bit. Mono-red aggro isn't actually amazing against it, I get easily 70+% winrate against red in mythic. Gruul is much harder, and mono-white is unwinnable. Turn 2 thalia on the play is an immediate scoop.

What you said in the post game talk is why I only watch you play arena, but don´t play myself I do not have the time to get all the cards I need to adapt to the meta I´ll stick to paper, where I can buy the cards I want to play Also you can´t just build fun decks, as you are just throwing the valuable wildcards into the bin that way :(

It is entirely a problem with me and not with CGB or his videos in any way, but mono blue tempo tilts me SO DAMN HARD that I don't even want to WATCH magic after seeing it. It tilts me right off the face of the planet.
