I attended University of Barcelona in 1969 -- when the Russian fleet came into port we would run down the Ramblas to watch the ships dock. The sailors were fun, polite (unlike the US military in Ceuta) and they were welcome in town. What happened? The poison of US/British influx into a once-beautiful country. My US professors were Russian and Georgian, and there was a waiting list for Russian language study. Again, The cold war removed anything "Russian" from WWII. and great composers were simply "European". The second language in Georgia now is English -- young people often don't understand Russian. The world has changed. Andrei is right.

I love when Andrei said "Serbia is a different animal", which is true... Idk what government does, there's a huge US and EU pressure here, and since we are not EU members like Hungary, we get extra pounding. But, even though Russian active influence is very light or insignificant, 80%+ of people are pro-Russian, hates NATO, and majority don't even want to join EU ever. Lots of Serbs fight in Donbas since 2014 and still are going there to help, even that they would face jail sentences if they come back. And we didn't impose sanctions on Russia. Except Ukrainian Nazis, there's also very low attitude towards normal Ukrainians either. There's like 100.000s of both Russians and Ukrainians (we call them all Russians) who found refuge here, and we mostly call them "ours". There is also as Strong link Serbs have with Donbas (Slayanoserbia, Novoserbia) - tens of thousands of Serbian lands, under grant of Ekatarina II, moved in Donbas area in mid 18th century, to, then barren lands, after Mongol hordes where defeated, and eventually formed proper cities (i.e Lugansk, Bakhmut/Andrijevka, etc), towns and villages that have same names as places in old Serbian lands. So, regardless of politics today, there's still a healthy stance in people that helping Russians is also defending ours. Not to mention all other entwinements, collaborations, other wars and such through history, Serbia is kinda small and an isolated island in Europe that loves Russia, and politicians might be ping-pong balls you never know on which side of table they may fall. But 80%+ of people know very well on who's side they are on. We love here listening to Andrei - bar his expert details, from which you learn a lot about Russia today, most of people here think the same.

Thank you for giving Mr. Martynov a platform to express his views… I wish all Americans would listen to him. Next time you host him I hope he will address Poland. It seems to me that it is in the national interest of Poland, Hungary and other Eastern European countries to make a separate lasting peace with Russia… even if it means leaving NATO and the EU. It should be obvious that the US doesn’t really care about the people of Europe. We used Ukraine and then abandoned them when things got difficult. Poland doesn’t have to like or even trust Russia to act in its own interest. It seems to me that cultural conservative countries like Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey have more in common with the culture of Russia than they do with the US/western world.

This type of tough speech corresponds to an existential need for Russia and will mark its future: definitively cutting the umbilical cord with Western Europe embracing the rest of the planet, not just Asia. In fact, the cultural decline of the elites in power in Europe, and the disinvestment in the study of History, allows the rise of all types of mediocre people incapable of dismantling anti-Russia paranoia with historical facts. However, there is a cultural elite in every country who greatly appreciates Russia's culture and history and who feels eternally indebted. Ordinary citizens behave like children, naive and easily manipulated. And this uneducated mass is the one that promotes access to power for manipulative populist opportunist politicians in the Western countries. Mass Mediocrity promotes political mediocrity. Russia must build with the BRICS+ people a global space of shared prosperity, appreciation of traditional values and study of History while investing in the technological future. Russia currently has an extraordinarily important role in the future of Humanity. Putin, representing his people, will have a place in universal history that is much more important and beautiful than any other historical figure on the planet in the last 200 years, at least. ❤from Portugal

I've sat up and took notice of this war because they were using cluster rounds from the start, shelling parks where children play in Donetsk. I wondered why they would be wasting ammunition but when it kept happening, realised it was on purpose. They wanted to kill women and children. What kind of man does that? As far as I can tell the Russians have very good discipline and mostly only kill people that are fighting against them and treat prisoners of war well.

The western community are centuries behind from their stubbornness in regards to modern technology and cultural behaviour. I live in Australia and we celebrate January 25th as Australia day which is the date the British invaded the indigenous peoples complete with pillaging and slaughter and to this day the majority of the Australian community look at this date as great memorable moment in history and so many still criticise the indigenous communities saying they receive too much from the government while they mostly live in poverty without education or healthcare.

Indigenous people pillage and slaughter each other. The idea that European people have a unique culpability for the crimes of "colonization" is born of ignorance of human culture and history. If anything is unique about European expansion it is that they don't exterminate or enslave those they displace. Human rights, justice and health, were major imperatives that propelled empire building. Early missionaries saw the inhumanity and lack of empathy of other cultures and demanded British administrations and investment provide protection for all people of foreign lands.

24:04 Quite a large death toll in the British Empire/Commonwealth - they put 8 million into the field against the US’s 7 million servicemen and women. Such a pity that they didn’t keep together but followed Yankee corruption. One of the big problems of the US ‘Empire’ was that it was lifted wholesale from the British - they did not earn it over a 350 year period - just took it. (And then mismanaged it to destruction over an 80 year period)

Re: chronic European Russophobia. One of the funniest examples that I saw was Jordan's Petersen interview with an American senator where they discussed how to make sure that Russia can't claim victory. In his intro remarks Dr. Petersen casually says: "Yes, Russia's a problem for the world now, as she has been for the 150(!) years". And, of course, while discussing how to make sure Russia can't claim victory in Ukraine, neither gentleman thought to define Russian goals, which for me was really funny, since I always thought that the minimum minimorum that one needs to do to make sure the adversary is not victorious is to define what IS the victory to the other side, and deny THAT to the enemy 🤓

48:57 the curious thing being that Russian arts over the last 300 years in certain categories surpass anything found in continental Europe - like the philosophical novel of Nikolai and Fyodor! How many cities compare with St Petersburg in their palatial aspects? Russia’s composers compare with and outshine any in the world. I was looking at the 2007 Mariinsky production of ‘the Nutcracker’ a week ago - nothing else on internet that comes up to its knee!

As a Belgian guy (70) I would like to say I spoke one of my brothers about Russia , he said that their was a 'red' threat from the east instigated by the so called democratic west , a Russofoob behaviour that grow only more during the consumption aka capitalist era . The west has never forgiven the Russians to win the second worldwar . They lost approx. 26.000.000 soldiers and citizens , compared to the Americans who lost 450.000 soldiers on the battlefield .

Right now there is an attempt to play the same scenario in Serbia as it has been played in Ukraine, illigal coup. A lot of money has been poured into Serbian oposition by US and UK. The oposition claims that the results of the local elections held last weekend were rigged. There are protests by very violent people going on in the streets of Belgrade. Hope the gvt holds their ground, othervise Serbia will be lost for another decade.

The origins of Russophobia of the Western establishment lie in a deep-seated inferiority complex due to the concept of “Moscow is the third Rome,” which is that Russia is the last and only successor to the Roman Empire and Byzantium. This concept is not imposed by Moscow, it is simply obvious from religion, architecture, art, law - this is all Byzantium. But where is Rome and where is Moscow? At the same time, modern Europeans have a relationship with the Roman Empire only in the sense that they destroyed it, plunged into the Middle Ages, and then began to think about how to attach themselves to this history. After all, the older you are, the cooler you are, according to the logic of the Western establishment.
