Great videos! Have you tried P&S beadmaker yet? It’s about 32 bucks a gallon and a synthetic sealant. You can get it for cheaper than that but offers more slickness and the gloss is insane. You should try it out. It’s easier than megs express wax and last longer.

Ive heard Beadmaker lasts about a month while The Last Coat last 4-6 months and they are equal in slickness and gloss but its 190 a gallon. How long does the bead maker last for you?

If the paint is prepped properly beadmaker can last up to 60 days. There is little to no streaking with beadmaker. The last coat is just other products such as reload and gyeon cure. I would bet the last coat would not last 6 months. I would give a product like they 3 months max. I always tell a customer the worse case we scenario because if you say 4-6 months and it fails in 3 then they might think you don’t know what you are talking about. I give a SIo2 product like last coat 2-4 months depending on where you live, how often is the car maintained etc. beadmaker is a lot cheaper but a great product and they don’t boast about how long it last they usually say 45-60 days. This product can be applied much faster and no issues in direct sunlight.

Of course. However, both are different products and have a different chemical makeup. It’s good to test products.

Does apc dry up the leather if you don’t condition it?

Apc will dry out the oils in the leather if you let it sit for too long or if you use it all the time to clean your leather. You should only use apc if it is really soiled. Always condition your leather if you clean it with a dedicated leather conditioner. To maintain it, there are 3 in 1 clean, condition, and protect products to keep it looking best.

For someone who's just starting to use a machine what's a safe way to figure out if you have hard or soft clear coat

Start with a polish and medium cut pad. If the marring and scratches are removed, you've got soft paint. If it does nothing but knock away dust, than you'll need to use a more aggressive compound and preferably a microfiber/wool cutting pad.

Another fun fact, you could have hard paint on most of the car, but let's say it was rear ended and the body shop used a softer clear when they resprayed the bumper/trunk, etc. You might cut too far on those sections thinking the whole car has hard paint. Feel free to ask the owner if they know of any collision points so that you can be more aware of what you're working with.

How hot will the paint feel if it starts over heating

You cant damage the paint with orbital polisher.. at least I couldnt do it, and I tried hard (for learning purposes)

@@Egon1982 Yes, you can. With a heavy cutting cream and pad, especially on an edge, you can quickly burn through the paint.

Your pads will more than likely tell you that you are getting it too hot. They will begin to mat up and overhead, breaking down. Literally separating from the backing. Temp wise, they get warm to the touch, the backing plate could get hot to the touch, that's when you should stop and let things cool off.

I just compounded and polish my hood and did not remove any of the swirls but I did remove a scratch that was bothering

Slower passes and multiple passes probably will help. Also try to use a more heavier cutting compound and not retail grade products along with a heavier cutting pad.

Try lake country,buff and shine,, meguiars pads. There's different grades of pads. Harbor freight pads are not good
