How the detonation sensor malfunctions are manifested: dips on sudden acceleration, loss of power, increased fuel consumption, vibration. The car engine may not go into the emergency mode, but with sharp acceleration, or driving under load you will hear a metallic rattle characterizing detonation. As the detonation sensor affects the correct operation of the engine, in some cases a "Check Engine" may appear. In my case, faulty operation of the detonation sensor caused a brief appearance of errors "P0131 and P0132", about this in more detail in this video.
