Shantal grew up surrounded by her father and his friends rather than other kids. She enjoyed being around the hustle and bustle of the adults and was exposed to drugs and alcohol at a very early age. With two parents battling addiction, Shantal had a tough childhood. At three years old, Shantal's father was sent to prison. Her mother went through a string of bad relationships and she was shuffled around frequently. Eventually, a family member sexually abused her which dramatically affected her life without her even realizing it.
Most people start off dabbling in marijuana or alcohol when their drug addiction starts, but Shantal was different. She started using meth as her first drug of choice at 14 years old. While running around with her cousin she was exposed to meth by people in the neighborhood. After one hit, she knew that it was going to be something that she was going to be doing for quite a while.
In 2015, Shantal was honest with her probation officer that she couldn’t stay clean on her own. She tried to hold herself accountable, but the probation officer didn’t offer the help that she needed. She got married and was still using. She was on intensive probation when she got married. She was able to pass drug tests through any means necessary. Eventually, she was able to stay clean for long enough to get her CNA but that only lasted a short time before she started using again.
When she went to visit her probation officer, she was arrested on the spot because she thought that she was using again. She had been clean for three weeks from her drug addiction and was so fearful to go back to jail. She faked a seizure while in the police car and was taken to the hospital. While in the bed at the hospital, she surrendered to getting help for drug addiction. She prayed for family and God to help her be able to fight for herself. She knew if she went to jail, she wouldn’t be able to get the help that she needed. The police then walked in, removed the handcuffs and walked away.

You are a blessing to God and giving hope. I am so happy I found your story. I believe God led me here because my daughter is struggling with meth addiction. She's only 17 and I was reading so many research articles saying it's basically hopeless. However your story is amazing!!! The things you're saying are so true and real! God bless you so much. I relate to this so much .. I’ve been getting in trouble and getting charges since I was 12 just recently I got put on probation because of getting caught with meth and now I’m a recovering meth addict and it’s just crazy to me because I’m only 15 and looking at other kids my age it’s so hard to believe someone my age doing what I am. I’m adopted because my parents are crack addicts and so my aunt and uncle adopted me and my life was great up until I turned 12 and everything changed and my adopted dad started using drugs which made me turn to meth because I wanted to understand why he left everything for it back then I had no knowledge about it what so ever deep down I knew I’d get addicted but I was dumb and didn’t care as long as it would make me feel better I’d be okay with it and I never thought I would’ve of turned into the person I did I tried it once and never stopped hit rock bottom and now I’m finally clean and going two weeks strong so i just thought I’d share this to anyone who needs to hear it ❤️❤️

I'm 18 years old. I stated smoking meth at 17 on December 19, 2020. Went on a 6 day binge and realized that I was missing cheer practices and important events. skipping school and other things. So I stopped and told my cheer coach what happened and practices after that were so challenging. I wasn't in the required shape to practice or compete but I finished my season clean and as soon as I got a long break I spiraled out. It's been 25 days and I haven't stopped smoking. Every single day I've smoked... I leave for Basic Training on June 28, 2021. and I've been spiraling out for so long. I don't even know how I'm going to do this... PLEASE HELP

Do whatever you need to do to make sure you don't fail that piss test for the military. Detox before would be a good idea. Once you get to basic, you'll get through it. Everything going on at boot camp will really help you not even think about meth. As soon as you finish basic, find meetings/support group ASAP.

So glad and happy for her but most of those recovery places will not even talk to you if you are poor without insurance and it has to be the right insurance. I know, I've called ask for help but unable to get any for this reason. On the tv adds they act like the important thing is you getting help but it's a lie, money is the only thing that matters period. I've not tried for help since they pretty much said I'm not worth saving. This is our country. Most other countrys in the world will help if you need it.

I think she meant the girl was sitting on the floor or in the back if it was a pickup truck.

She said she got 6 felonies and was explaining what contributed to her charges. Charged with endangering someone under the age of 16 being one, for driving under the influence. She also got in trouble for not having the child in a car seat, meaning the child was of age to need a car seat, adding another charge of endangerment.

She had the key, which is a good support system.. it's next to impossible if you don't have anyone that you can turn to or anyone that you trust or anyone who even cares. Being all alone.. feeling depressed, overwhelmed, lonely.. those are all triggers 😞

I get where you're coming from. The way they explain the highs it's like "Man I'd love to understand what they felt and the dragon they wanted to keep chasing." If we lived in a reality free of consequences, I'd probably try every single drug just to understand the shift in perception, but it's just too dangerous. Besides when you really think about it, it's so pointless. You only get the peak high of whatever drug of you choose once, it ruins every experience both drug induced and sober afterwards, and it's also bad for your physical and mental well-being. Not even worth it.

Sam Gonzalez I mean else then injecting the high takes like maybe 15 min to set in and it’s just a crazy feeling man I remember I snorted too and I remember doing enough where my breath felt good doing enough meth is equal as 30 orgasms at one time
