What Devon needs (besides normal improvement) and everyone else needs vs Genadi, is to false start the rounds like he does. That would make things more even. The one that managed to win vs Genadi, even suffering from his false starts, was Jerry. So, props to Jerry, that was awesome.

That's how you overcome. Even though Devon did basically win 4-0 (two before the fouls that somehow gave Genadi a 1-0 lead, and then two more clean), he can't dwell on getting screwed. No matter how blatant the unfairness is in a situation, focusing on that doesn't change anything or help you for next time. You have to figure out how to get better so that it's all in your hands.

Devon is too good of a sport to admit it but the refs really did have an impact on the outcome of the match. What Devon said about round 5 and Genadi pushing him off the pad is true. But it’s also true that the refs gave Genadi that first round. Genadi’s elbow clearly came off the pad but they didn’t call it and instead called an phantom elbow foul on Devon that was never replayed. But I think another big reason why Devon lost is because he spent too much time arguing with the refs during the setup in the later rounds which gave Genadi plenty of time to recover
