There were moments where he was literally pressing with his shoulder touching Genadi's hand, and the refs didn't call fouls either. The fact is they are equally matched and there's no guarantee Devon will win even if there's a rematch with different judges.

Look at Conor Mcgregor and how he uplifted and carried that company (ufc) through the roof with trash-talking and drama. Devon tries to do the same and without him there's a very high chance you wouldn't even be here commenting on a video on a post-arm wreslting match. Tell me i'm wrong now.

So much focus on Devon while Koddy Merrit and many other North Americans have clean losses against lighter opponents from East. Clear message that pulling in burger&craft beer joints with baseball caps will not take you far.

That is 100% accurate Mike... such maturity and wisdom in his moment of defeat, to be saying words to inspire others is quite unique in sports... and truthfully in life! We are all perfectly imperfect including Devon... but it takes a level of selflessness in the moment to rise above. I doubt I could do it, which is why I think so many of us admire this quality in Devon (aside from being a phenomenal armwrestler).

Great match, however, that elbow foul round 1. Why didn't we see a replay of that? That completely changed everything in regards to the outcome of the match

In the second round Devon used his shoulder to push his hand. The ref didn't see it. Devon did not get that pin, he cheated.

@@roybatty- That is just not true though. The referee was watching it, and if you watch, you can see Genadi surged towards Devon's shoulder. That was the only time it touched, and it was only a split of a second

@@mbk9975 Devon clearly put his shoulder on his hand. Ref missed it. Later in the match the ref was more attentive to what Devon's shoulder was doing. And Devon DID foul in round one, but so did Genadi.

Amazing match. Gotta do it again. Little to much ref action that weighed on the outcome. But both were awesome and both should be proud. Devon really is holding his own in the super heavyweight division. It's tough. Not his natural weight to be fighting. So very impressive. He should be ecstatic about his performance. Seriously. Would be really cool to watch his KZfaq videos on training in Georgia. Hats off to both.

I love that he's talking about training with the Georgians. Oh, man. He's gonna test and learn a lot over there. He's gonna level up even more. Those guys really are such a high level. And his son will be taking a lot of lessons too. That sounds so great. Those guys are gonna get even better when training with Devon too.

Agree 100%. Honestly I think that's what he's been missing. Not to take anything away from any of the guys with whom he's trained, but Levan and Genadi are just on a different level. So if they're able to feel some of that type of power from time to time in training, that has to be beneficial.

Yeah people don't discuss this enough. Everyone's discussing the Phantom foul but it's more important that Devin was going to bleed him out like a cow. That fake foul call was the whole match. The moment it happened I was like that is very very detrimental to the fairness of this match. Especially when it was Genadi who fouled. And gennady's first actual pen was also a foul his elbow was lifted so he can press Devin down. Look for that if you catch it replay. It was a huge mess

Reffing in east vs west needs to be addressed. Too many matches having reffing controversy. That round one phantom foul was the deciding factor in the entire outcome of this match.

Just look at that first round Genadi literally lifted his elbow but Devon was fouled... Shoulder of Genadi was not squared properly

In the third or fourth round whenever Genadi got his first actual pin, his elbow was off the pad so he could press Devon down. I'm going to watch that replay but I'm sure that's what happened.

Devon’s second pin he was not even close to square before they said go, devon was also using his shoulder to press his hand countless times and it didn’t get called. You can make excuses all day but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Genadi won, it was 50-50 and could’ve gone either way

They need to remove fouling out. If you are in a bad position and you foul you should lose the round. If you do it again you should lose the match. Don't foul out just take the pin.

IT WAS DEVONS FOUL, small pops to for pad coverage are not considered fouls in EvW; Devon popped a bit while pulling back THATS A FOUL. He also continued to call GENADI his dog instead of securing the win. HE lost to himself; you all will keep him delusional ; if you want him to improve CALL HIM OUT FOR HIS BS.

The first of Genadi’s “small pops” wasn’t small and was a foul… he won, but Devon should’ve been up 1-0 from where that foul occurred (and in no way should his have been called a foul)

Literally the best refs there are. They were reffing the whole thing even if they miss a thing or two they did a great job on the whole event. Some of the refs were on the KOT events aswell. Difference is now instead of 3 they were reffing 12 matches. I think the answer isn't better reffs, but MORE.

No he does not need to do that. East vs West is successful with or without the Devon fanboys. The reffing was where it should have been. The refs are to be commended for holding strong in a high pressure match.

LITERALLY THE WORSE REFEREEING I HAVE EVER SEEN DURING AN ARMWRESTLING MATCH. WHERE WAS THE FOUL IN THE FIRST ROUND WHEN DEVON WAS ABOUT TO PIN GENADI? WHERE WERE THE SQUARED SHOULDERS FOR BOTH THE ATHLETES WHEN THEY GAVE DEVON A FOUL AND LET GENADI SLIP HIS SHOULDER IN? WHY WAS GENADI CLEARLY ALLOWED TO BRING HIS SHOULDER IN DURING THE FOURTH AND THE FIFTH ROUND WHICH ARE ALWAYS THE MOST CRUCIAL ONES DURING ANY MATCH? Of course Devon was gracious. He always is after a match. Total class. That doesn’t change the fact that he got totally hosed by the refs. Devon talks about who can get the shoulder in first…Genadi was GIVEN the shoulder by the refs every time. They made Devon keep his back at setup but never Genadi. Hell, he was damn near 45 degrees leaned in at the start of every round.

I don’t want to say the refs were biased because it’s not provable, but it’s clear to me that this was misjudged. My opinion is that the first round would have been won by Devon, and he then would have won 3-0; however, I also can’t prove that because it’s possible Genadi would have pulled through Devon’s hold. Regardless of what we assume would have happened, there are still a lot of questions that are unanswered because of the referees.

If i paid a bricklayer to build me a wall.. & he did a poor job “because he was tired” my wall will fall down & could hurt someone. It was only 5h… if 3 refs cant remain focused for a couple of hours they should not be hired!!

Agreed. I don’t want to call a bias.. I do want to call them out for bad calls, terrible standards & for losing the the respect of the athletes during the match!! Both devon & genadi we called on some bad calls & i will not be buying another PPV as i do not want my money to pay for thoes refs!

The refereeing was bad and maybe the match would have ended differently, but also consider that Devon is making everything possible to make refs'job impossible. He made Bill Collins look bad in his match with John when probably Bill is the best referee in the world...refereeing Devon is a nightmare

@@rfdiego777 I don’t disagree with that. I wish he would cut back some of the set up shenanigans. It is what it is, Genadi is the winner. I really like Genadi and I am okay with him being better than Devon, I just want to see convincing wins with no doubts. That goes for any match. I am not satisfied with this outcome and would like to see a rematch to put this to bed.

Man there should be four refs on the table on Ready Go. 2 focusing on the hand and 2 holding on both at the back of each athletes shoulders. If we want a fair perfect start. Refs keep focusing calling Devs shoulder while Genadi slightly adjusting his shoulder to gain an advantage. Congrats Genadi 🎉

Devon also flashpinned Genadi in a round. The round where Devon goes to Levan and says "Are you seeing this f***ing sh*it Levan??" Devon got super confident because he knew he had him.

Devon explained it. He basically said that genadi’s flop press would be too difficult to deal with using any outside armwrestling so he had to try and beat him to the inside game where he could deny genadi getting into a pressing position. It was just a matter of who could get more inside first

You can tell in the match that Devon has become way stronger than before. He looked very dominant but the reff were very partial. Keep it up Devon! You workout routine and training are giving you great results !

Luckily later they didn t allow him to put his shoulder that way in the setup. Also when devon had better setup against prudnik nobody complained, you all said the setup was part of the game. Wait till you get an opportunity to watch the replays and see where Genadi's first actual pin, his elbow was off the pad... he pulled it off so he could press Devon down. I'm sure there's lots of missed calls but some of it was pretty tough to watch. Devon has the right attitude post fight though just not making any excuses.

@@lowtunedg9211 i supported Devon, but he clearly lost today His open toproll/kingsmove was disabled with Genadi's speed of press and then Devon had to do hook with shoulder commitment like when Devon faced Jerry in WAL, the different is this time Devon is forced to play by the rule with straight shoulder unlike in WAL

The refs were shit, waaaayyy to long getting the match started. If anything they bled both Genadi and Devon by fucking around with shoulder shit and pointless fouls. Get them center, close it and go!! Both Devon and Genadi closed their hands and were both ready to go with no complaints and the refs wouldn't start it.

What a match that was would love to see that again well done to genadi well played sir 👏 fans of either guys should be proud that was well worth a watch, I'm a devon fan and I ain't even disappointed he looked super strong and genadi endurance was class, only thing I will say is the reffing could of been better. I don’t really get the shoulder thing at the start. if you have straight wrists, arms at the centre of the table, left hand holding the peg. Surely how you position the rest of your body is up to you?

What a ruined event. These refs have always been biased against North America but they took it to a whole new level against Devon. They must have had their entire life savings bet on Genadi. Immediate rematch or we riot.

This is absolutely a case where the ref affected the outcome of the match in a flagrant manner. I’m not pissed that Devon lost, I’m pissed that he was beaten - but not by Genadi.

Georgian team has some insane training regiment whilst bulking up and training being set amongst each other, hence they are really maxing out! Wow what a sport love it!!! In my mind I consider Gennadi and Larratt to be about the same, they both technical and strong, it was these little nuances that ultimately defined the outcome, no matter who lost, it was a good battle, they both should be proud of the performance that they pulled off anyway.

First time I ever saw Devon gas out before his opponent. Devon's like John B, he has nothing left to prove, and he'll always be one of the best of all-time. Remember, Devon's not a spring chicken anymore, he's almost 50.

That is exceptional. The man is 48 and competing with much younger athletes. Also with larger athletes he is much more built for heavyweight. He's probably top 10 at Super heavyweight but he's the best in the world at heavyweight. At 48!

That 1st "elbow foul" is ridiculous. Devon literally had him a couple inches from the pad bleeding him before the pin, and the ref called a supposed micro-foul, with *zero* replay or evidence to support his b.s. call. Hats off to Devon for being such a humble sportsman, as he kinda got screwed here.
