Back in my freshman year (1996) I actually knew much of these things (somehow, don't ask me where I got it from) and I stand all of maybe 5"6 and weighed, maybe 145lbs back then. It was entirely satisfying to see the reaction of 6"+ athletes the moment they realized their arm was going to be pinned, and watching them grapple with that was something I found thoroughly entertaining at the time.. they'd ask me how much I weigh hope that I threw out a high number, or anything that explained how they had lost to such a small person. But, I always comforted them when they lost and told them there's way more to it than they think.. and assured them that if they ever learned, they would crush me.

@@benedikt1054 definitely not as easy to execute, but Devon has explained before that when he was coming up in the sport it was very difficult to find a well trained arm wrestling coach who really knew what they were doing compared to today. And with KZfaq it’s easier to get good content and advice to get people started properly, but it still takes a lot of practice and experience to become a good arm wrestler 👍🍻

You do anything for the first time hard enough, and you'll be out of commission to some extent for some amount of time. Armwrestling in the beginning phases (properly getting into the sport) is associated with some shitty elbow pain for like, the first year until it gets conditioned enough (though people differ, also depends on variables). The best advice is to join an armwrestling club, because wow is it easy to snap your arm by being in a poor position.
@-Sober-
@-Sober- 2 жыл бұрын
Im a 17yr old armwrestler. Ive been doing AW for 1 year and working out for 2 years. I also have a retail job which commonly includes physical hard labor. Its actually not that bad. Maybe if i armwrestle a couple dozen times in a day ill be sore for a couple days, but AW pain doesnt last long.
@Siberius-
@Siberius- 2 жыл бұрын
@@-Sober- - Not everyone is you. Generally there is pretty shitty constant elbow pain for about a year, for people who are genuinely doing club armwrestling, with the proper club training and all. I don't know if you're armwrestling in a manner that is very applicable for this subject, maybe you are. This varies widely depending on the individual, and for you, if your elbows are already a bit conditioned from labour and gym stuff, then that can help to some extent. Though this will usually not help someone very much at all, because armwrestling has it's own pressures and the forces are much greater than other stuff they do. Some people literally just get no elbow pain, though this is rare.
@dirtyharry2029
@dirtyharry2029 2 жыл бұрын
@@user-mm8pm7ol3r Well sure but if an inexperienced guy pulls with his buddy just messing around for 20 30 minutes the next day is brutally sore around the bottom of the bicep and the elbow. Armwresting is something you get extreme soreness from pro or not Pro not so much once your body becomes used to it though. Yes all sports at a certain level become detrimental to health in general but I think you completely missed the OP's point.

Arm Wrestling is Jiu-jitsu with just one arm at a time. It's all about angles, leverage and using your opponent's own body against them. Fascinating stuff.

No, first step is build strong tendons and joints this will alone take couple years for beginners in armwrestling. Big muscles do help but if you dont have the tendons and joints trained properly its snap city baby.
