I'm used to larger, corded routers kzfaq.infoUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.

I love my Dewalt kit; it just seems to go on and on. I’ve even used the cheap range and it’s lasted 10yrs and that’s full time builder use. I’ve got a compound mitre saw that I’ve had for 15yrs, knocked around in the back of my van, still works great. Dewalt are good solid tools. Very reliable. I also love my framing nailer; Once you know how to use it, no problem.

I bought one of these last summer for a job I was doing at work and annoyingly the company got a subby in to do it after all that. Always wanted one to add to my current Dewalt 18v system. However I went to use it in anger at home for the first time, opened up the unopened box and was overcome with so many bits, I made an attempt to set it up and gave up, too many bits. I went back to my 230V router because I was familiar with it. I would love a video, out of the box from new, demonstrating all the parts as I still do not use a router to maximum potential. Im glad I found this video, although its getting on a bit 😊👍👍👍

I like the power switch, it's like the old small DeWalt and Elu routers, I found that other routers with sprung switches causes an imbalance in the way you hold the machine, this switch allows complete control with no distraction, If I had to choose one, and only one power tool, this is the tool I'd choose! Can anyone suggest a power tool that is more versatile than a router?

Evening, Robin I've had a couple of laminating trimmers over the last 25 year's( makita ones ..,!!) and next to a skill saw and a planer I think it's a must have bit of kit...!! I've owned lots of routers but a laminating trimmer is the most versatile option you can own, granted you can't cut a work top joint with it but its amazing what you can do with it I've always bought 110 volt types even now when I'm fully cordless ( 18 volt makita..!!) That I still use 110 volt types it's just I've still got concerns with the the battery models being that they are top heavy especially when you're trying to do intricate details, hopefully skillbuilder will do a review or a comparison between corded or cordless..?? But anyway keep up the good work and please keep blogging..!!

I use a Makita and it’s brilliant for portability and battery life but I do like the DeWalt depth adjustment mechanism very much. It feels very positive and precise. But once you’re on a battery platform its too expensive to change brands IMO. The only thing I dislike about cordless palm routers and sanders is that they are a bit top heavy so they can take a bit of getting used to.
