DeWalt DCH273 SDS Teardown and Diagnosis

2 жыл бұрынIs your Dewalt DCH273 not hammering? These Brushless SDS Machines from Dewalt have an extremely tough motor but sometime the hammer mechanical section can experience issue. The con rod can break piston can crack the o rings can break and split. They can also seize up due to the grease going thick and drying out. this one had a broken o ring. if you have a broken DCH273 and you dont know what is wrong with it this video should help. This video shows a complete teardown of the unit showing quite detailed instructions and description of fault. The Dch273 is the brushless upgrade to the DCH253 brushed model and contains alot of the same mechanical parts the DCH273 motor gives less trouble however due to the increased power sometimes the mechanical parts give trouble. The DCH273 xr sds is 18v I. the UK but 20v in North America and is still the same unit.Can I fix my SDS DCH273 hammer drill? If I can you can #dewalt #repair #dewalttools

Had the same problem; couldn't wait for the part so I went to the hardware store. Could only find a 3/4 x 1/2 x 1/8 Oring (No. 70); it was a bit big for the cylinder, so I tried sanding it down, but it took too long. Put in on a grinder for a very light spin one time around, and back in business for a quick back yard fix. Will get the part later, but if anybody needs it immediately, it did work.

On mine you press the trigger and it’s intermittent, also goes in reverse randomly when it’s in forward. Then can just stop. It’s not the battery as I’ve used a few. Any ideas? I’m thinking trigger

Could be the trigger it's not a separate part though it comes with motor and board attached

Did u fix it? I had the same issue on mine and the circlip that holds the spring in tension has come off and bent. Just waiting on the replacement part now

I had a spare assembly from an old DCH253 I used it to finish the video. The mechanical parts are the same. Good spot by the way. I haven't gotten around to fixing up the DCH253 again yet.This video was to show the damaged o ring on the hammer assembly.

Did you manage to sort it mate? I’ve got the same problem but can’t see a way of compressing that huge spring to get the clip on

@@Passivesniper to be honest I had a broken DCH253 and used the complete part from that to finish the video but I have a couple of them laying around in bits I haven't had time to rebuild any of them yet if I do I might try and find out how to put that all together and do a video on it.

@@Passivesniper I did! It was a pain in the arse as I did it on my own and had to Jerry rig a few automotive tools to apply the compression. First thing to realize is that the solid metal ring goes in with the cut out rim facing up to seat the c clip. I placed the bottom of the assembly on the ground straddling two blocks of wood and then used a circumferential ball joint splitter to apply downward pressure on to the spring while exposing the inner shaft. It was really hard to apply enough pressure while also getting the c clip on with a flat head screwdriver but after about 30 minutes was able to do it. One other part of the reassembly that I initially messed up was that the ball for the hammer motion needs to be fully seated inside the recess, mine had come out and didn't realize you need to fully seat it in there. Works a charm now!
