Ya, all the videos I watched, people were really fumbling, trying to hold the string while turning the spool. But I have to wonder, is the string going to be tight in the spool if you don't hold it while spinning it?

I love mine. Just received shipping from home depot. I bought 2 6ah batteries to go along with it (mine came with a 5ah and charger but knew it wouldn't be enough for my job). I have an acre lot with two trailers. I was able to do the parameter of both trailers, underneath both porches, and our trees on one battery. The LED showed one bar so I went ahead and switched batteries for the lot parameter fence and the shed. All in all I'm impressed with the power and love that I won't be mixing gas anymore. Plenty of power for the small shrubs on high. I would recommend to anyone who already lives in the dewalt 20v battery eco system.

Only question I have clockwise or counter clockwise when winding the knob? Looks good. But the parts you said to keep clean at the motor .... they are constantly getting debris & trimmings. Shouldn't they have designed a Shield to block those cooling vents, or at least a foam band that would wrap around the motor so large debris would be kept out of it?

Bought one today. Pros: Super Easy to use, and it works well. Cons: it's heavier than the gas powered units I'm more familiar with, and my arms felt tired quick. Also, it's not balanced very well. The good IC ones I've used felt completely neutral like, as a righty, my left hand carried the unit and my right hand controlled the throttle. This unit is not like that. It's heavy, and made both arms feel tired way more quickly than I would have expected. Seems well built though, and the above concerns aren't a major issue with a small lot like mine. I'd for sure go with a gas powered unit if I were doing more than one yard.

I just got one and I’m surprised no one is talking about how heavy it is. The head is just too heavy and there is a problem with balance. I’m thinking about adding some weight to balance, but just returning it might make more sense. I have an echo gt 225 and never had a problem with weight. I tried moving the handle down much further than recommended, and that helped but not good for my back.

Excellent video. Since this model is so new, wasn't sure I'd find a "hands on" review. I have multiple Dewalt tools, and have been seriously considering moving to one of their electric trimmers. My old Stihl is still kicking, but I'm worn out with the bulk of it. ***And just a follow up, after cutting a couple of times with this thing, I'm not so sure it's any lighter at all than my old Stihl. Haha. This thing has plenty of power, and is built like a tank. It's not your old school lightweight trimmer by any means. ***

@SparkyChannel
@SparkyChannel 4 жыл бұрын
The positive is that it's direct drive. The negative is debris clogging the air flow. These kind of trimmers should be blown off after each use. There is a screen keeping debris away from the motor. I just take my leaf blower and blow it off after each use.

4:30 Just a caution...DeWalt recommends the user to load the trimmer line by securing the spool cap with one hand, and then using your other hand, wind the line onto the spool by rotating the spool grip cover (the plastic ring with the grip profile closest to the guard) counterclockwise...Spinning the spool cap can not allow the line to wind properly causing snags when in use. Cheers.

Sorry if this is a silly question but do you know what is the difference between the 20v and the 18v trimmer, other than the 2 volts, which does not seem a lot. In other words, is there a reason for having two ranges of products with only this difference?
@MS-yy2dh

To answer my own question - there is no difference.

On Jan 25, 2020 I got hacked and lost all 934 videos and 182K subscribers. I'm in the process of trying to rebuild the channel. Perhaps KZfaq will help. This channel is new and has a different URL than the old one.

I wanted something light weight and capable of cutting. This little string trimmer is just that kzfaq.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . The battery will last about half an hour. It cuts through most weeds and grass. I wanted to see what this trimmer could do and tried cutting down some brush. It does okay with light brush but heavy brush, not so much. This is a great tool for trimming around the yard. It's not great for clearing out brush but no one would expect it to be.Out of the box, this trimmer is extremely easy to use. All I had to do was attach the guard and load the battery.

DEWALT 20V MAX 14” String Trimmer has a nice folding handle to fit in the trash. It the worst thing Dewalt ever made. Other DEWALT tools I really like and very happy with them. However the DEWALT DCST922 20V XR Brushless 14" String Trimmer worst tool DEWALT ever made.
