Dhruve, I'm a student from Dhaka University.. As I've studied a lots of book based on the libration of Bangladesh, I can assure that your video is unbiased.. but, you should have mentioned that 30 lakhs Bengali sacrificed their life in this 9 months war.. The war was between Bangladesh and Pakistan.. India helped us and we are really thankful to India for their helps.. but, the major parts of war was held by our mukti bahini.. at the end, just 10-15 days ago of this war Indian army took part.. while we fought 9 months against Pakistan Army....

@Dhruv Rathee, Most of your information are correct and to the point. But one important bit you missed is that the actual war was initiated right after 25th March 1971 between Bangladesh and Pakistan. So in the beginning, it was basically a war between Bangladesh and Pakistan. (With of course huge help from India). India directly took part in the war after Pakistan attacked Indian airfields. So India directly started participating from 3rd December 1971 for 13/14 days. Key point 1: There were two different wars. The first one was Bangladesh vs Pakistan which lasted for 9 months (where India assisted Bangladesh). Key point 2: The second war was India vs Pakistan when Pakistan attacked India directly. Key point 3: The two opponents of Pakistan (Bangladesh and India) merged together in the end against their common enemy (Pakistan). But it does not make it a one war. I would say It’s two different wars working toward the same goal. We recognise Indian help in Bangladeshi liberation, and they should also recognise these are two different wars (one lasted 9 months, and another lasted 13 days).

It is not "India Pakistan 1971 War". It is "Bangladesh-Pakistan 1971 War". We fought against Pakistan from 26th March to 16th December. India joined later on 3rd December 1971.

yes Being Bangladeshi, I take great pride in my nation. My mother and father were fighters for independence. My grandfather fought for my nation in the East Pakistani Border Defense Regiment (BDR), receiving multiple injuries to his neck, shoulder, and chest while training in India. He passed away in 2006. The conflict that raged between Pakistan and East Pakistan is one of the few things he lied about. It is true that India assisted in our training, but when our victory approaches, Indian soldiers defend us. With the goal of putting down Bengali nationalism, the Pakistan Army launched Operation Searchlight on 25 March 1971. Pakistani forces targeted both Bengali Muslims and Hindus. In the ensuing 1971 Bangladesh genocide, the army caused the deaths of up to 3 million people. During the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, members of the Pakistani military between 200,000 and 400,000 Bengali women and girls in a systematic campaign of genocidal rape.

Language movement 1952 started from my University campus and ultimately it leads our country towards independent war!! 30 lakh Bangladeshis sacrificed their lives during the war....And now the whole world is watching this country of courage! Russia's role in helping India and Bangladesh is quite underrated and rarely discussed I feel. So I would like to mention it here, this also tells us about the scale and severity of this conflict on the global stage. When Pakistan asked for USA's help, USA sent the US 7th fleet, headed by USS Enterprise, which was the largest aircraft carrier until very recently, to Bay of Bengal to intimidate India. In response, Russia sent its 10th Operative Battle Group, which was a nuclear-armed fleet to confront the US fleet. The Soviet Ambassador to India, Nikolai Pegov, reassured New Delhi that Moscow would counteract any moves made by the US or China, so that India could focus on the war without worrying about third-party interference.

This was so informative! As a Bangladeshi myself, even I didn't know some of the facts discussed here like, growing up our textbooks had detailed narration of this but intentionally omitted some of the facts like there was no mention of Bihar's displaced people and their side of the story, we learned to hate them as war criminals although they did do their part in the war siding with WPakistan and telling on our common people. I've seen Pakistani and Indian people having different stories of the same war so hopefully everyone takes this as an eye opener and do better than our past.

I sincerely appreciate your historical documentary, which, for the first time, mentioned that the Eastern Province of Pakistan was East Bengal and was rechristianed as East Pakistan by a military dictator Iskander Mirza in 1955. Most of the partition historians ignorantly mentioned East Pakistan since 1947, which is not history. Similarly, when Bangladesh declared independence on 26th March 1971 after Pakistan launched genocidal campaign against the people, the historians, political commentators, journalists, and researchers ignorantly describe Bangladesh as East Pakistan and conclude that the surrender of Pakistan Army at Dhaka on 16th December 1971 gave birth of Bangladesh. I also grow up from my childhood to listen how muslims killed our family members in the name of religion to grab our assets coz we were belongs to jamidar family. Bangladeshi people suffered a lot during that 9 months of war. Dhruv, one of the important information you have missed is the sacrifice of 3 million Bangladeshi people who died for the liberation war of Bangladesh. We are grateful to India for helping us though out the war phase and eventually joined our hands on 3rd december to finalise the war. But one thing to mention, It’s the Bangladesh vs Pakistan war . Not the India-Pak war. These two war were relevant but different 😊

I'm a Bangladeshi, I also want to point out that before December when Pakistan tried to rearm their military and provide supplies India stopped all flights over their territory from Pak to BD leaving only Ships and Chittagong port ......during this time Soviet Union sent mines through India to Bangladesh. Bengali Naval commandos who deserted Pak navy to fight for their motherland used those mines to sink more than 50 ships and destroying oil, supplies, food for the pak army and blocked the harbour. It's called Operation Jackpot.......after 1971 Soviet Union then removed the remaining mines to make the port open to business. Soviet union really helped to cripple the pak supply chain.

Dhruv Rathee, fir the correction of record it is mentioned here that in East Pakistan the number if Pak Army was 35,000 not 93,000. This is the total numbers of POW which include civilians also.

In 6th class of social studies class, this topic was mentioned but very briefly and not in details. Then our teacher told us that books won't tell u but we did bangladesh very wrong and they deserved their freedom. After that i studied the whole thing and now i feel sorry for what politicians did at that time and i have respect and love in my heart for Bangladesh.

Lots of respect to Dhruv Rathee for presenting the truth. Many are arguing whether the war was between India and Pakistan or Bangladesh and Pakistan. Actually, it was both.
