7 months later, IMF says that Russian economy has started to come out of recession, sanctions on Russia have backfired, and exports are barely hurt, while domestic demand has increased, this increasing imports. Many industries that faces some rough months have already started to recover, including the automobile industry which is seeing a heavy growth in demand. Russian economy is far from getting permanently destroyed, while the European nations which have put up all these sanctions falling into a recession and are facing fuel and cost of living crisis. European currencies are having a hard time, while the Russian Ruble becomes the best performing currency of this year.

Sadly all this ripple effect applies to only non western countries...no one took any steps when US, Israel and Europian countries have attacked other countries in past violating numerous International Laws, Human Rights etc...it is nothing but western hegemony. We eastern countries should have an organization of our own to avoid such situations in future and let go of our dependencies on west and western companies...! I am in no way in support of any war but there should not be double standard for similar situations...May the peace prevail in the world and people value humanity over anything else!

The Soviet Union deployed groups of cruisers and destroyers and submarines with nuclear warheads. From 18 December 1971 to 7 January 1972, the Soviet Navy trailed the American fleet throughout the Indian Ocean until the US backed off. If not for the Russians, Kochi and Andaman would be US bases, like they have in SKorea, Japan, Taiwan, Phillippines, Vietnam etc.

I am curious how the world will respond if tomorrow China invades Taiwan? Lot of global companies are dependent on China for their business, especially for manufacturing. So these kind of economic sanctions might not work for China, which is not good for the rest of the world.

11:00 correction here. Yes russia has $630 B in forex reserves. Only about 40% will get hit by sanctions because not all of their forex is in USD and EUR.

But you are forgetting that other countries who trade with US and EU also have to respect their sanctions....Those countries will have to give details of their currency that Russia holds to US-EU authorities, who in turn will block this forex reserves....US-EU are even locking down Russia's gold reserves so they cannot be traded electronically which is pretty much how gold has been traded for past 100 years...Russia will have to sell their gold in the black market and hope US-EU don't track it because that'll further bring down the value of Russian gold..

This video shows the side of Russian civilians and what they are going through because of the decision of their leader and how helpless they are because they can't even protest against their leader because they will end up in jail. One lesson to learn: India and many other countries have to slowly take out its dependencies from the NATO countries. There should be alternatives to Google, Microsoft, Visa, MasterCard, Swift, etc. Otherwise the monopoly of these NATO countries will rise. NATO countries should not think that they can dictate what is right and what is wrong. The United Nation should not be a puppet in the hands of a coalition of few countries.

Russia has military technology to trade with , which China will value very high. Here the situation is different It is the total mistake of arab countries they should have not atacked isreal in 1948 when palastine and isreal were different countries and jerusalem was under un control
