Diagnosing Ticking Noise in 2006 Honda Rincon ATV: Expert Investigation and Solutions

This noise you hear, some people would have thought the piston is banging, but in fact, it is just the chain tensioner at its max position,
Watch Part 2 to see what it sounds like after the "fix".
ALSO: if your Rincon grinds when you shift, that is not normal, and do not listen to someone who says it is normal. Or if they say you have to shift "fast" to prevent it from grinding.
No no and no.
The grinding while shifting means the shifting cable needs to be adjusted.
the adjusting bolt is under the fuel tank.

My Rincon made the exact same noise. Changed the cam chain tensioner and it fixed it.

Definitely can chain tensioner I had the same noise in my 2005 rincon. I change it with the original part and it went away.🤘🏻

same here 05 rincon goes away when warm just beat the shit out of it in the snow trying to pull a car out of the yard dident explode so im guessing its not internal?

Hi Doug, check your chain tensioner. Its probably at its limit.

Mine has the same exact sound, I can't figure out what it is, have you figured it out yet. Mine only does it when it is cold and goes away when it warms up.

Hi Cade, yes, the issue was the timing chain tensioner. You can either replace it with a brand new one or modify your current one. You can email us at Valleywrenchin@gmail.com and I will explain how to modify the current one. We will be making a video on how to modify one soon.

@@valleywrenchin ok, thank you so much, I have seen quite a bit of videos all about the rincon knock, but every one has a different idea of what it is, thank you for letting me know what the problem is, hopefully I'll get to work on it soon. The noise is just horrible and scarry, it makes me feel like it's about to blow up, lol. So hopefully when I get the cam chain fixed, it will sound better. Thanks, have a good one.

BTW, mine still runs good, has over 7k miles on it, the sound started about a few months ago and got worse until it reached to the point where it sounded like someone is slapping a wrench to a price of metal. But it goes away when it is warm, only does it when it's cold, and it's a 2005 rincon.
