According to someone who saw the tape , Rodale , a 72 year health guru said during the interview that he was going to live to be 100 .While someone else was being interviewed in the chair next to him , his head bent back and he let out a loud sound like a snore and Cavett said , " are we boring you?"

My new bride and I were at the show the day the "health guru" died. We were honymooning in NYC after our Cincinnati, OH wedding ceremony on June 4th, 1971. My father was an executive with Billboard Magazine located in Cincy and was able to get us passes to the show that day. Jerome Rodell was unknown to us and sheduled later in the show. We had grown tired and left just before he was to be on stage figuring we could see him and the rest of the program on the TV when it aired later that night. We were very disappointed when we sat down to watch and found our that the Dick Cavett Show had been cancelled for that night. Later, the following day we heard the reason for the cancelled show... that Mr. Rodell, the famed 'health advocate' , died on the stage as Dick C.was interviewing him! Ergo, we certainly had no chance to exhibit 'false memory' of the historic account!

And that's just one more reason why polygraphs are not used on witnesses in criminal trials. It doesn't mean that what they're saying is true. It simply means that they believe it's true.

There are other instances of "mass mis-remembering," it's a very weird phenomena but it does occasionally happen. Just goes to show how the human mind is open for suggestion.

I saw a short clip that was released...It does not show the man who died . But it does show about 5 seconds of the guest and the Host (Dick Cavett's) reaction of concern that this man had began to fall out of his chair.
