Kiddo, you never cease to amaze me with your listening repertoire. Romeo Delight is that rarified classic Van Halen air that few and far between know and love. What the heck else are you going to pull out of your bag of tricks! How about The Cult? Look into them. I think you’ll love them.

Wow, I haven't heard that song in almost 30 years. The David Lee Roth version of Van Halen wrote soo many fun songs. There's probably not a lot of dissecting you will need to do for their lyrics but it will always get you pumped up. I'd recommend 'Unchained' if you do another VH song.

They have so many great songs it's hard to narrow it down, but I think "I'm The One" and "Ice Cream Man" from their first album are good starters. As far as Eruption goes, the studio version is about a minute and a half cut from the first album. The live version contains elements of the original studio cut plus much more. Many parts of the live version are bits from other songs using Eruption as a base to go back to every few minutes.

If you’re gonna do Eruption just do the studio track first. It’s short. Then do the live “Eruption” that everyone wants. It’s more a medley of Eddie’s most famous solos moments than it is Eruption the track. Do them both in one vid. You should hear both. You’ll hear pieces of it in the live video but the whole original track is worth hearing too. Enjoy your vids!

They were on fire! 🔥 David Lee Roth's voice, showmanship & physicality - EVH guitar riffs - Michael Anthony slapping that bass - with the background vocals (Eddie, also) - Alex Van Halen pounding those drums! There is a split second break in "Eruption" where my friend and I screamed, "Eddie - We love you!" He looked right at me - smiled (with that impish grin) and winked! This song is so damn fierce! Dave’s lyrics are great despite being “straight forward.” It’s not quite that straight forward, Sammy Hagar is blunt, Dave has a way with words that few song writers share. The guitar is brilliant. Including the heartbeat section. This is one of my top 4-5 VH faves. It’s everything Roth VH was about. Take care!

My favorite song off this album is "In a Simple Rhyme", my favorite VH album is Fair Warning. I could list a bunch but why? You'll get to 'em. Imma go listen to some deep VH cuts.

Great choice for a deep track of Van Halen . You should do a reaction to the whole Women and Children First album. One of their best and often ignored.

I read once that, If you had just landed on this planet and were introduced to Van Halen I'm the One, would be the perfect song to see every member's strengths and attributes.

This album came out the same year as Back in Black,British Steel,Heaven and Hell,Blizzard of Oz,Ace of Spades ,Iron Maiden debut,Spirit of the Radio and Much more , such a sick year 🤘

Far and away my favorite VH song

Before listening to the EVH Eruption solo from "Live without a Net" (1986) there are a couple of things to know. Edward played some form of this solo since the very early days of VH gigs and concerts even before they released their 1st studio album in 1978. Originally it was a piece played by Ed to warm up before a gig or concert, and wasn't meant to be recorded. Their record producer (Ted Templeman) heard Ed playing it, instantly realized how good it was and had Ed record it and they put it on the 1st album (Van Halen, 1978). So listen to that first. Next, Ed was always writing music and some of the parts he plays on the Live Without a Net solo were record for studio release years after he performed it live. Here is a breakdown of the "Live Without a Net Solo" 1:07-2:00 the studio version is called "316" (For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, 1991) and is Wolfgang Van Halen's birthday March 16, 1991. So, this is one of the music ideas he was playing live before the studio release. 2:01-5:53- various Eruption solo parts+live adlib 5:54-8:09- "Cathedral" (Diver Down, 1982) plus live adlib parts 8:15-10:20- Fair Warning intro (Fair Warning, 1981) there are other bits of ideas in this section that were recorded later including a 2 finger tap and slide technique (9:04-9:16) recorded on the solo for "Judgement Day" (For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, 1991) 10:22-11:36 various Eruption solo parts 11:37-11:40 closing tapped harmonics at the end of the "Spanish Fly" solo (Van Halen II, 1979) 11:41-End various solo adlib

David Lee Roth is a genius lyricist in my opinion. It doesn't mean there's more meaning than what's on the surface. * "Eruption" (1:42) - 'Studio version' is basically a stand alone Eddie Van Halen guitar solo. It actually works well as a lead in to the next song on the album "You Really Got Me" (2:38). These are off Van Halen" debut album released in 1978. * "Eruption Live" (13:21) is Eddie's full guitar solo. "Eruption is only part of his full live guitar solo. THE clip to watch is from the 'Live Without A Net' concert recorded 1986.

Loved Eddie's tone back then. Changed dramatically on For Unlawful, never got back there. I didn't care for this album seemed like a rushed thing to satisfy the record company, I might be wrong. Unchained or Panama or Jamie's Cryn or Beautiful Girls or anything off the first two albums next :) You may know this Daniel but their first record most of the guitar stuff was a beat up POS Eddie put together with spare parts and he did all his diving with a standard Fender trem which after you do that the guitar goes horribly out of tune but he managed to do it. The bridge pickup was broken from him winding and rewinding. He's the best.

The live "Eruption" everyone does is from '86 after DLR left and Hagar joined. Not that it's bad. The first two songs on their debut album are "Running With the Devil" and "Eruption". The live version of Eruption is essential to hear, but I suggest hearing the studio version first, as it's less than 2 minutes long. It's kind of the intro to You Really Got Me, and its best to listen to them as one. The live version is an extended guitar solo, but the studio version is the foundation on which it is based.

If you want great lyrics, you have to go with the Hagar era of Van Halen. Dave just wrote about partying, Sammy put a lot of thought and heart into his lyrics. Ide recommend checking out Mine All Mine, Dreams, The Dream Is Over and literally any song off of the album Balance.

That's an interesting choice to react to by Van Halen..Not necessarily one of their biggest hits . Cant say enough about Eddie Van Halen...if you want to be impressed listen to ERUPTION ..unless you already have ..I haven't yet scoured through all your videos to see.

Picked a kinda obscure one here. Good song, but IMO there’s some other choices that have a little better flow to them. This song always sounded slightly disjointed to me, if that makes any sense.
