Guys love your reaction, I saw Van Halen in 1978, 1979,1980, 1981, 1982, 1984 and the last time with Sammy Hagar in 1990. Seen all the bands of the 70's, 80's and 90's and by far, far Van Halen is the very best of all time!

When Eddie passed, the band ceased to go on. However, check out Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddie's & Valerie Bertinelli's son. His band is MAMMOTH WVH, and he definitely has the Van Halen family DNA!!&! Look him up... I DARE Y'ALL!!&!

Unfortunately Edward Van Halen died. Dave left the group in 1984 and did the solo career and Sammy Hagar took over as the lead singer from 1986 until 1996. Gary Cherone from the Band Extreme then became the singer in 1998 and then left in 1999 when their album Van Halen III didn’t do well. Then they reunited with Sammy in 2003 and toured till 2005 when Sammy left again. I’m 2006 Dave returned and they started touring again but they replaced Michael Anthony (bass) with Eddie’s son Wolfgang on bass. They released a new album in 2012 called A Different Kind of Truth and also released a live album in 2015. Back in 2001 by Eddie was diagnosed with cancer and died in 2020. Dave was a Diva but he was awesome live. Sammy was great live too with a different energy. Although many people didn’t like Gary with VH I thought he was great live. I was lucky enough to see the last tour before Eddie passed. It was a great show and the will always be my favorite rock band ever.

I have seen VH with David 4 times. Thier 2nd through 5th albums, and he is, or was, amazing. I thought VH was better with David than Sammy, though I love Sammy. He's a Bay Area guy like me.😊

Unfortunately without Eddie, not going to see them again. After his death there was a lot of back and forth about a tribute concert but there are still apparently still some serious divides between his son Wolfgang..who has his own successful band now...and other members of the band, mostly David Lee Roth who historically was tough to deal with. Sammy Hagar and bassist Michael Anthony, who tour together with their band do a bunch of Van Halen songs in their shows.

Live? Us fest 1st song. All of them drunk as he'll. Funny.

They were beefing but it was silly. The band is owned by the brothers and everyone else is disposable. The band decided no members could do outside projects, and Dave wanted to do a bunch of vaudeville and classic r&b stuff that didn't really click with the band. Then while they were on a break, Eddie recorded the guitar solo for Beat It by Michael Jackson for free and didn't want his name on it but the sound was blatantly obvious as to who was playing it. Soon after, Dave left the band to do solo stuff that expanded his own interests. That's not the most detailed version but it is objective. There was much poo slinging between DLR and the band in interviews, and then when Sammy came and left, it was much the same. Interviews where either and both claimed the other was at fault.

Eddie gone is a HUGE loss, but Wolfgang Van Halen definitely has Eddie's DNA and can play all instruments, sing, and produces all of his own stuff!!&! Look for Wolfgang in his band; MAMMOTH WVH.
