Best example that validates your point is the Trial episode from Batman the Animated Series, where the District Attorney defended Batman and came to the conclusion that Batman’s villains would still be the same psychos even if Batman didn’t exist

The Trial episode from BTAS is a great example of Batman not being responsible. Most if not all of his villains are made by outside circumstances and he is the only one with the mental fortitude and abilities to stop them.

It was revealed back in *Batman Issue 649,* even though Joker’s crazy he isn’t as crazy as he makes himself out to be. He just uses it as an excuse to justify every sick horrendous thing he has ever done. All the murders and travesties he has committed and saying it was for Batman was nothing more but a lie. He has done all those things because he wanted to do and because the point of it all, to him at least, was because it seemed funny. He tricked everyone into thinking that Batman’s responsible for his creation and even Batman himself, but that was never true. Joker’s just plain messed up and Gotham has been selfish for letting the Dark Knight handle the Clown Prince of Crime solely alone for so many years. The Joker knows that Batman’s greatest weakness is the fact that he cares for everyone to a fault and used that against Batman to punish Gotham.

Your so right about The Joker in so many ways in TNBA cartoon the episode Mad Love, The Joker explains to psychiatrist Harleen Quinnzel about some of his childhood trauma and says his father used to beat him pretty badly which of course is child abuse and every day he tried to make his dad smile or laugh with him but he would beat him to a bloody pulp. But Batman said that The Joker was lying to Harley Quinn this whole time. But still it’s pretty damn sad every time I watch that episode.

I like the version of his origin in "Three Jokers", where his origin is basically the one we know, except he was actually an abusive asshole. It shows that Joker's negative qualities didn't come out of nowhere.

I must say, your idea presented here is very moving. I agree with your comparison of this cause and effect with the real world. Sadly, most people are too shortsighted, and blinded by greed and arrogance to truly understand what you have stated. I agree with most of what you said, and basically every point you made about Batman not being the problem, but I also don't think you can really blame everything Joker's done, and everything he's become, on his past. Being grossly abused and neglected for years obviously doesn't help your odds of being mentally stable, but there are still countless people who've gone through extreme trauma and didn't become monsters. In fact, as you sort of pointed out with your comparison between Batman and Joker, some people actually end up using their trauma for a positive goal. I think the fact that two people can go through similar(if not identical situations)and end up being drastically different from each other points to there being something wrong on a more internal level with those who went evil.

Honestly i don't think Batman is reasonable if Batman had a chance to talk to joker before he became what he is today i think Batman would have at least attempted to help the Joker i mean Batman has done this with many people robins and rogue gallary members alike and he has been extremely successful on multiple occasions so who knows if would've worked i like to think there's a version of Batman out there somewhere who actually succeeded in helping the Joker before he became what he is and turned the Joker into a hero as well

When the DA who believed that Batman created his list of villains, but would later realize that each of them were created be their own hand. In that Arkham villain court room scene.

I agree that society is very much a factor, but that'd be taking away Joker's responsibility. Because his "one more day" philosophy was debunked in that same book, we can't control the things that happen to us but we have a say on how we respond to them. Joker made the decision to be the way he is. He tries to blame Batman or society itself, but it's all him.

Joker just should never have an origin/backstory period. I always adore versions of him when he has this almost creepy mystery behind him because it's as if he just started existing one day and became chaos incarnate. That's why I've always hated the whole vat of chemicals backstory he is mostly associated with. It's brilliant that Joker said in The Killing Joke that there's a chance that THAT backstory isn't even true and that if he had a backstory, he'd want it to be multiple choices.......but at the same time, too many other versions of joker just point blank HAS that as his backstory🤦🏻 removing his mystery and intrigue and making him just some crook that fell down clown acid one time
