Remember when we were impressed by the games blizzard MADE rather then what they fixed?

bcoz of the changes in season 4 i didn't need to look for builds, the tempering and masterworks really push players to make a character that they want, build it the way they can. its fun. i like it.

now the inventory issue is the small tab for "nightmare keys", uber mats and elixirs. They should have separated those to their own tabs or added few slots while they were at it.

Diablo 4 the only game I ever played with friends where all of us were falling asleep during the leveling and story, in three separate sessions.

I like to think of levels being like weight classes in any sort of combat sport. For most games, ~5 levels should basically be a weight class. It's not unrealistic that a skilled fighter could fight above their weight class (~5 levels), but going 3-4 classes up (~15-20 levels)? No. It shouldn't necessarily be impossible (with, say, a huge time investment or incredible luck), but it shouldn't be something that can be done solo easily by even the most skilled players. Realistically, it shouldn't be worth the effort most of the time, aside from the prestige of it. (This is just my philosophy on game design. And the numbers are just examples, not absolute numbers that must apply to every game/genre.)

My biggest issue is how lame the skill tree is. I get that there's other systems that build onto the skills, but having such a basic tree feels silly, especially when many upgrades are just to the numbers and nothing else

It's a step in the right direction. The only problem is that they chose to start a hundred miles in the wrong direction.

D2 was fun because it was hard to find the most amazing rare items. The stats were very random on rares and when you found something amazing it was worth sooooooo much.

So their fix was simplifying itemization and turning diablo 4 into diablo 3?

The game definitely improved my issue is the game just brings me 0 joy to play, it just feels so freaking boring :/

Last epoch really spoiled me with the loot filter and the combat speed. I couldnt get back into D4.

i made a lvl 100 sorceress at the beginning of game and quit before season 1 even released. Havent been back. Quit when i realized i had a 0.00000000000000001% chance at an uber unique.

19:24 - This is the idea of "strong ideas, loosely held" where a devs should have ideas they feel really strongly about, but once it's been discovered there's a better way or that method doesn't work, they are okay just moving on. D1 and d2 are still the best diablo games to play

I really like the tempering and codex. Also i didnt feel like i had to follow a meta lvling build. But around lvl 65 you really start to realize its the same. Once the min maxing starts it gets that same feel. Trying to grab a certain poece of gear still feels the same. Overall i like it

Lucky's good as a secondary gear set to wear so you can put it on when you're farming for gear in a group. It's always nice to have a Luck user in a group when you're farming for gear.

I've been able to clear the capstone dungeons that under level solo since day 1 I think it just feels better now

instead of reseting the Leveling, how bout just reseting the story line? I wish I could play level 100 character in storyline mode

they have a "lucky hit" system in raid shadow legends, its a tier 6(end game) skill to unlock, it has a 60% chance to deal extra dmg based on a % of the target's max hp, its pretty much the meta for late game because the % is usually pretty high, its like 4% on bosses with millions of hp when average dph is like 2% worth of that same boss's hp

I might have missed him talking about it but all the venders being in one area in the towns is nice too

The capstones being too easy seems like a bit more of a build balance issue than a difficulty issue. There's plenty of builds that aren't crushing capstones at lvl 30.

Asmon needs to remember that comparing to season in d3, all you were doing for leveling to max level was getting someone who's already at lvl cap run a dungeon with you so it takes like few minutes and you are max level

Back at the day when I used to grind Grim Dawn you could hit a lvl 50 boss for half an hour if you were 20 levels under the zone to be able to kill him

The guy's statement about Blizzard fixing stuff that makes players bored or want to quit because it isn't fun rings true at the moment, because Helldivers 2 is going through this right now.

Helltides start getting crazy now with so many mobs esp when people drag a few other groups on top of say the boss. Shit gets crazy intense.

I just came back to the game since playing in season one and it feels much better, horse feels good, less stupid herbs to collect, I'm still dirty about the platnium battle pass though how they make it just enough to not renew each season. And the amazing cosmetics are all bought, which they said wouldn't happen. But the game is much better since launch

In terms of d4 i think its a great reballance of the game and has given it the feet to stand on against diablo 3 and 2 but they need to keep up the quality and not do another season 3

Ultimately, the sameyness of the loop has to do with the nature of the genre. ARPGs have a limit, but where they need to expand are Bosses, random elements in the game, dungeon variety and room layout orientation variety. This itemization update will lay a foundation to make those changes.

I was looking to replay D4 that sits in my library. But from what I understand they made leveling useless and just a thing to get over with it, since the season doesn't have anything special, so you can farm the endgame?

Remember the saying "It's not about the destination, it's about the journey?" Diablo 4 has no journey and the destination is shit. You spawn into the game, immediately drop into some random plot of land you don't care about. Done. Just grind... Meanwhile how many of you have fond memories of traversing the land in Diablo 2? Even though everything was randomly generated it had a looooot more character than "hand crafted" open world in Diablo 4. I don't even know where I am most of the time in Diablo 4. I don't care about this world. Characters don't mean shit to me. Bosses don't mean shit to me. The land itself don't mean shit to me. There is not a single enemy in the game that means shit to me. It's all just a soulless grind devoid of meaning. And what for? So that the number goes from 1 to 100?....

As a dad of 6 years, this game is right up my alley. It’s not perfect but this season saved the game for me.

The thing is with leveling in this game when you play a melee character (what is not recommended btw) is that the enemies get stronger with levels. I was unlucky and did not get any gear and played the game for fun and ran around and was doing stuff and I got punished for that.

Cleared level 70 at 42. But i did mind my gear a lot. Had proper aspects and tempers. Game is so much fun now

13:00 if you have been grinding this game since it came out every season, you WILL feel burned out by this season bc you have done the tedium and grind when it was harder. Ofc it’s going to be “boring” because it’s resetting the baseline for the grind and buildcrafting. This is the start of something new, allowing for more difficult content next season and even more dynamic builds with seasonal artifacts as well. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes. I will say I like the armor from the season pass though I just wish there were some more abilities that felt “demigod” themed, whether dark or light, but the vampiric aspects are still so good and really vibe well with the unawakened armor set from this season journey. I wouldn’t be opposed to aspects that alter the damage or animations of your abilities too, like making illuminations with shadow or celestial light effects to your blood necro or fire sorc. Or just give us holy damage type.

Legit jumped in yesterday on a seasonal barb and I walked through the world tier 3 capstone dungeon like it was a joke absolutely no challenge at level 28

The game is very fun now! Having the aspects auto store in the codex upon dismantle is HUGE. On top of that, when you dismantle a better aspect it auto upgrades the aspect stored in codex. I got to level 100 in a few days but that's only because I was forced to go work for a living. Otherwise you could probably grind to level 100 in about a day

I think it's a huge improvement overall. - Leveling is way easier and much faster. - Itemization is way more straightforward and generally better. - Looting generally gives you less garbage and more useful items. I wish there was a little more to the seasonal mechanics though, like the Seneschal in Season 3 and the Vampiric Powers in Season 2, there's really no special flare to this season. It's just helltides and tempering.

Helltides is like Cow level from D2 now. We ran it back in the day to level up quickly. Blizzard gave us what we wanted.

Im definitely enjoying the game now, the gear does feel meaningful and understandable, not having to read a each affix carefully to see what it does. Im also an enjoyer of the shared helltides,if people forget the dev's said the gear from the iron wolves caches will be giving you gear for a specific build, for me its a weareolf build with lacurate and bloodhowl and pulverize. It gave me a unique that made my werewolf form my true form and made bloodhowl a shout that is shared among other players and pulverize creates wide shockwaves in front of you. Its a lot of fun

Me and my bro have just started playing D4 because he has it game pass and we're doing duo Necromancer (Minon and Sever build atm) i dont play ARPG's for the competitiveness, mostly just for the story and some of the end game content before moving on - we're playing WT2 and blasting through stuff and eagerly awaiting WT3+ to really put ourselves to the test. Actually reinstalled D3 and D2 to play while he's offline so i dont spoil D4 storyline haha

As someone who hasnt plsyed aince back end of season 1 im intrigued to comeback this weekend and see whats up. There was so many little things that was just cumbersome. Got 2 characters to level 70 but i dont get to play that often.

The CC tempers are just crazy, especially with Aspect of shared Misery. Completely made Frostburn redundant as an item.

I still think we get too much loot while leveling. Aren't rare items is something coming from word "rare" meaning "not a casual drop"? While you can fill your inventory with yellow items in like 10 min

It truly is a game for dads. My dad loves the game! After a long day of work he just loves killin stuff and chillin out. I join him super rarely and get pretty bored but he loves it.

The amount and frequency of monsters may be a little too much. Finding it difficult to open mystery chests.

The highest praise I can give Blizzard is that Season 4 is a step in the right direction, but we have a ways to go. They need to rework the Skill Tree and Paragon Board. The fact that I have to use Maxroll to know exactly how to build an endgame class in a convenient amount of time is a killjoy.

it makes sense to be able to easy mode the boss if you've already done it the right way already. That or remove the requirement to beat the early game content again.

I remember the Devs said they wanted D4 to very casual gamer friendly, and cater mostly to them, yet, still have stuff for the hardcore (not the game mode) players who love to grind hard and heavy. They felt that the casual gamers were going to be a big part of the player base this time around. Instead of the players who eat, sleep, breathe, and practically live in D4.

Pros: 1. QoL changes are fantastic, 2. Loot is much easier to understand (could use more complexity in the future), 3. More density = more fun. 4. Loot that drops with greater affixes = Dopamine hit (feels good to drop loot) Cons: 1. Game is too easy only real challenge is late game pit (no leaderboards or any kind of reward system for progressing farther into pit). 2. Game is boring (Core problem right now generator/spendor gameplay sucks and no diverse types of content that really challenges the player) 3. Skill twigs (way too simple need a lot more varying skills and skill add-ons for all characters)

I think arpgs these days just get boring for most players after the campaign

It's implemented to keep balence for that skill if it procs lucky hit all the time and not the percentage put on skull it would be op especially in the res generation made aspects

My brother bought a physical copy of Diablo 4 and gave it to me. By that point, I'd already seen everyone complaining about it, and now it sits still wrapped in cellophane. Seems like maybe the game is at the point where I should finally unwrap it, and give it a try.

D4 doesn't have a good end game because blizz doesn't know how to design one. The campaign and questing however are actually good, aesthetically amazing and mechanically the lower level combat seems to fit what the original intent for the game was. Just play it casually when you're in the mood and let it go beyond that, it'll never be a long term game.

paragon still needs a rework, with the stat changes it can be difficult to hit other stats requirements for nodes. Would be nice to have a rework on the skill tree too, but i wouldnt expect it.

i like what they did with the loot reborn so far so good right direction lets see if they keep going in this way maybe i will buy the expansion at this rate who knows but they have to keep going with these types of updates

What's killing me is that you cannot ever find a new unique item and just use it - no you have to travel back to town to take out its uniqueness and put it in the item you currently using ( if said unique has better secondary stats than the one you are using right now)

As a casual player, it's not gonna be "fixed" until i can have more than 4 attacks and left and right mouse basic.

Played it when it first came out and season 1, jumped into it again during season 4, got bored at how ridiculously easy the game was after a couple of hours. A "live service" game this is not.

biggest problems at endgame fun are the numbers in the pit. i built my barb fully tank with tons of life and damage reduce. i am at pit 75 now and oneshot every elite but the boss is quite a challenge that can oneshot me. either the boss does way to much damage or the rest of the dungeon has way to less health. its literally super boring to get to the boss and then the action starts. they need to crunch some numbers.

well you can do that on some boses in v rising but thats more skill then gear

I couldn’t play season 3 more than a couple days. I’ve finished the battle pass and am level 85 and having a blast in season 4.
