Last year we spent 2 months in Dahab, South Sinai and fell in love. This year we decided to repeat the experience but something went wrong. Did Dahab change or was it something else?
In this video I share my 2024 Dahab experience and talk about frustration and anger from the CBT point of view. I also show our Dahab accommodation in Eel Garden area.
On this channel I share ideas and tips on mindfulness, better relationship with yourself and ways of fighting anxiety and depression. I also show life of my little family - we are currently based in rural Bulgaria but travel from time to time to other places.
If you want to support me, subscribe to my channel, click like under this video and a little bell - not to miss my future videos. also feel free to share my videos with your friends and leave a comment - I’m open for a discussion.

Thank you. In situations of frustration, I also start by listing and writing down my desires that don't coincide with reality. Realizing them is the beginning of the spiritual path :)

It's interesting to know how you define if they councide with reality or not?:)

@@annasan There are some types that can be distinguished here. For example, the past and the future in many situations do not depend on us, but there is a desire to fully control and predict. There is also a desire to change people quickly and have expectations from them.

@@annasan Also my desires to change my habits quickly and be in complete control of myself and my moods. But the material body is inert and so are its reflexes. I find solace in a deeper understanding of the laws of nature in these situations. And it is important to set goals in all moods to set a movement. Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you have to move :) ...move towards a good and kind goal

I remember from my childhood, if there was a frustration building up, my Mom would give me a "time-out" - kind of, "Go to your room, and come back when you calm down, however long it takes". Yelling, confrontation, letting it out and subsequent telling-off was never in the cards - it would never work. Such "time-out" approach was generally perceived as a form of punishment by my peers, but for me, even now at 46 it is still the only thing that really works, and that I really need and want when times get rough. When I'm angry I can't think straight, or verbalise anything very well - the best thing I can do is to reduce background interference as quickly as possible and go through all necessary anger phases alone. Talking about a problem only makes it worse for me, blowing it out of proportion and making me re-live it over and over again (contrary to e.g. my wife, whom a conversation seems to help dissipate it). But, I guess it's quite typical for people in my corner of the Autism spectrum - temporary solitude in a dark, quiet room, is the only magic cure that works every time. Funny enough, deep, slow, even breathing also makes it worse for me (I get more agitated), but the quick inhale/very long exhale combination with a pause in between works perfectly (I guess it has something to do with the parasympathetic system activation). That's why playing meditative music on the flute has a direct, physiological effect on me - I inhale for maybe 2 seconds, then stop and play (exhale for 20-30 seconds) - works every time. And I don't even need a flute - just plain humming does the same job. Great to see you back! All the best :)

Your every comment is like a little story - always interesting to read as you share your thoughts and experiences sincerely. Thanks for sharing your tips on calming down, especially breathing pattern and flute playing. Everyone has their own way of dealing with frustration and anger, of course, there's still a plenty to discover for me as well, as I'm the one with genetics, although many people see me as a very calm and peaceful person:) although in general I am, just when I get angry, I need to express it somehow, I don't think a dark quite room would help. Although, I should try:)

@@annasan looking at the world around I can see my methods, statistically speaking, don't work for most people, even the ones closest and dearest to me - I guess that's one of the things about being on the spectrum. 'Know thyself' is the beginning of it all - once this is in place, there are no right or wrong answers/methods, only the ones that work or not :) All the best!

Accomodation is a critical bottleneck in Dahab. With a bad place/landlord it can be horrible. I stayed 1 month in a bad place (with a drug landlord), the other month in a good place (due to a reliable landlord), mid oct to mid dec last year. It is all about having good connections. Dahab is still the same and with the street market" for the egypt. pound even more affordable.

Oh pound now makes it unbelievably affordable. We were stupid enough to pay with cards in the shops first but then looked at black market rates. And our accommodation has its advantages in the end.
