I couldn't see anyone writing for NAS. I actually learned how to rap and write songs long ago and what you learn is that a rhyme has is almost like a fingerprint. And when someone has ghostwriters you hear a major difference in lots of different facets of their work. Like Dr. Dre you listen to him from when DOC was writing for him and later on when it was Snoop to Eminem and across the board. Same with P. Diddy you can hear the difference Nas has the most advanced and stable set of tools in the industry. If some one was writing for him he would have to be studying that rhyme for a long long time. It would defeat the purpose of having a writer. I honestly don't think there are lots of artists out today that use ghostwriters or at least they don't use a plethora of them and I can only see them doing that when making fuller produced more commercial and POP songs and that's normally more collaboration than anything else.

They even argued saying that a question like that shouldn't even be asked in an attempt to discredit an incredible artist like Nas. @3:50

The reason I knew this was bullshit from jump was that Nas himself spoke on the COLLABORATIVE process between him and Sticman on Slyfox long before the rumors even popped up. It was an interview on Hiphopdx right after the album dropped and he said him and Sticman were in the studio and while Nas was writing and reciting his verse Sticman would toss a line out in the air(just out of habit) and Nas really liked the line and fit it into his verse. basically they were tossing lines back and forth. I remember one in particular was the “I turn on CBS and I see BS” line Sticman said out loud and Nas finished with “try to track us down with GPS, Make a nigga wanna invest in PBS”. So it was a collaboration, just like he said.

This ghostwriting thing is a non-story started by a Jay-Z stan(Dream Hampton). Someone asked her a question about why Jay doesn't write concious records, and her response was that Dead prez and Jay electronica ghost wrote for Nas. A horrible deflection and a horrible lie.

@sugs1191

At that stage in their careers Jay Z had done far more conscious songs than Nas. So the person who asked the question was obviously ignorant. As are most fans. Jay Z - meet the parents, soon you'll understand, lost ones, minority report, beach chair, where have you been , you must love me, where I'm from, somehow someway, this can't be life. I could go on and on.. The idea that untitled ( a solid album) was more socially conscious than Kingdom come ( a very underated album) is ofc nonsensical. Nas went for shock value and could not quite pull it off on untitled. There were some good songs but they generally all revolved around the same.premise. fried chicken, project roach were were short songs but about as good as it gets.. Unfortunately Nas Stan's blow the whole thing out of proportion bcos untitled was not really socially conscious. Meanwhile on Kingdom come Jay Z dropped lost ones, minority report, lost ones and beach chair which really went deep. I personally suspect Nas did hire a ghost writer but am not sure 100 per cent. Dream Hampton is friends with Jay Z but this has nothing to do with the ghostwriting accusation. Fact is other people in the industry hinted her accusations to be true too.

If Nas wrote a book I'm sure he would have some help. So someone editing and your book is not the same as a ghost writer trying to imitate your soul on wax. Apples and Oranges. Using a ghost writer is the worst thing a true m.c. could do. If your a DJ, or a producer, graffiti artist then it's okay but not for an m.c. What if you heard dj screw or terminator x don' t know how to use a turntable. That would be a fraud that has been committed.

there is a Difference between having a collaboration to develop a specific sound and perspective ... Ghost writing by definition is when you use exclusively someone else's written material and pass it off as your own ... to hide your inability .... in every form of music artist collaborate with each other to achieve a goal and specific sound that isn't ghostwriting when all parties are adding to the same pot ... Fans and many folks get that definition twisted and don't fully understand the term .... as he said they helped with production and conceptual points in developing Hooks and Musical Direction .. that isn't ghostwriting its a collaboration .... Dead Prez occupies a specific lane in Hip Hop ... and that Nas album was diving in their lane so of course he would include them in the creative process to achieve his goal and maximize the impact... that is what every artist should do ....

Nas has always had different sounds, styles and concepts....so its illogical to think than someone wrote his lyrics because they sound different. I only consider an artist having a Ghost Writer if they do not give the writer credit for their work. I know Kanye had many artist write for him, but you saw every person's name in the credits that worked on a project. However, you can't claim to be a top MC if you've used writers for your work...only a top performer.

What does he mean he dont know where the rumor came from?It came from the fact that they names are all over the album insert.I myself know how it can make people think that they were ghost writing for nas just based off of that. Your Lyrics are all an m.c. has for his talent to be judged on. His voice doesn't matter as much. Rhyme styles, patterns, and flow can be changed copied or borrowed, but you gotta use your own words to be a respected lyricist. Yeah they did say "no" but they were explaining too much instead of focusing on the fact that it was a flat out lie. I wouldn't explain anything. They should've just said "no that story is fake as fvck" and that's it.

Nas goes to Dead Prez to receive information and different perspectives on certain topics. Nas asked Dead Prez for some assistance when he wrote the N.I.G.G.E.R. album so he wouldn't be spewing bullshit or wrong facts to his audience. They didn't ghostwrite verses for him .
