Listen, as someone who deals with high humidity and heat most of the year (north Carolina aka south United States) any extreme heat you are not used to is BRUTAL. Like it’s irrelevant if “my heat is worse” because I’m used to it. This is my normal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with such extremes. And man. Heat you can’t escape. You can only take off so many clothes and when you’re still hot it’s unbearable. I hope it cools down soon

We’re definitely not used to it! The same way if you were to experience -30C you’d have a rough time (although I don’t love that either lol) Today it finally went down so we’re all good now!

I agree. Also, for some people, tolerance for heat is low. For example, I have lived in very hot and humid climate all my life in South Asia, and now have moved to Louisiana, but I never got used to this heat. I react badly to it and get extremely red and have all sorts of problems like extreme fatigue and increased heartrate. Hot weather is just not my thing!!

I loved all the books in the Neapolitan series, and after the last one, I got her short book “ the lost daughter “ I kept it and didn’t read it till later because I love those books😃😃 it was really good too. I’m like you, by the last book Lenu was not a favorite of mine, but when you think about it she’s the one that was able to get herself out of poverty somehow . They are such complex characters and you love them and hate them at the same time

I do want to start My Brilliant Friend but I want to challenge myself to read it in Italian and I am not at the right level yet. I love them both so much, but they’re also so awful and questioning what they do!!! But I also wanted to recommend to you a very short book called, in English, Sweet Days of Discipline by Fleur Jaeggy!!! I have taken the week off at work this year and plan to do the same next year. Best decision ever! We don't have A/C at work. It's cooled down a bit too much to my liking now. It's 17°C and rainy. one of my favourite sci-fi/fantasy books this year is the empire of silence by christopher ruocchio and funnily enough it’s also roman inspired 😂 I really recommend it nevertheless I read foundryside in may and really didn’t enjoy it - the dialogue felt like a marvel movie and the characters were a bit too archetypal for me. I have been refusing to consider the tainted cup since then, but now I’m actually interested again 💛
