Given the mild winter we had this year, I'll be shocked if my hardy banana HASN'T survived! What a disappointment that would be. I love big leaves for the drama and tropical energy they add to my small space garden. I find that big leaves - whether from canna, colocasia or hardy banana - are an excellent way to spice up a midwestern garden. Position them next to plants with small leaves to really play up the size. Throw in some bright colored perennials and you have a perfect recipe. I love the way perennial hibiscus looks with hardy banana!
Hi there! My name is Heather and I garden in zone 5B, recently changed to 6a, in the southwest suburbs of Chicago on a small residential lot. My garden lives a whole lot larger than it is and I love sharing tips and tricks, as well as plenty of mistakes, with others who love to play in the dirt.
