Hotels are very primitive on Lakshawadeep unlike on Maldives which has a range of hotels from lower to ultra luxury. If Lakshawadeep is to become an alternative to the Maldives, there will be a lot of hotel construction required.

From a foreign policy point of view, bad relations with Maldives is not good for India but great for China. It will push Maldives more into Chinese hands and then you can expect surveillance stations and Chinese military bases there. Besides an India boycott of the Maldives tourism will mean their economy will weaken and push them to rely more on the Chinese. From a Desi pride point of view, yeah, boycott the Maldives. From a foreign policy and pragmatic power equation, that would be a terrible idea

@@udaynj Nah...boycott by private citizens is a good idea. Because it'll cause regime change in Maldives. Chinese can give money to government or bribe politicians...but Chinese tourists can never visit Maldives in such huge numbers, plus a move by private citizens can't be condemned on a global stage. Only Sri Lankans , Pakistanis and Indians visit Maldives in large numbers, India being the majority.

Indians spend $27b abroad. . India has more natural beauty than all of Europe and Asia combined. We have always known this. . But Indian locations don't offer luxury and the related ecosystem. . Once infrastructure develops, the private sector will move in for facilities. India is a natural candidate for no 1 in tourism, even without the heritage sites. . 250,000 Indians go to Maldives giving them 30% of their GDP. For Maldives you don't need a visa. Just take the plane ticket and travel. But for Lakshadweep, you need a permit from the Lakshadweep authorities, which is not an easy task and difficult if you want to travel without the help of any travel agent. That's the difference 😅
