Perhaps it represents seasons and something we have in common across the country. We all rake leaves across the country, most kids jump in leaves, we take pictures of leaves, ppl go hiking for leaves they save/press, ppl take drives to see the leaves, our flag has a maple leaf. Are the leaves being raked maple leaves? Or Maybe it represents the habs sweeping the leafs. It's art, open your imagination and there's plenty of possibilities.

The redesign is clearly meant to make Canadian imagery more generic and focused on modernity. Notice too how the coat of arms is being overtaken by a half leaf, pushing out tradition. I will not be gaslit into pretending this is a non-issue. Reminds me of the generic architecture imagery on the Euro, but at least they can argue it's a compromise between 20 countries. What's Canada's excuse?

The coat of arms is 100% intact, isn't it? I think we can have a discussion about bland, corporate graphic design (which tends to suck, and is all over this thing) without falling onto our fainting couches about TRADITION. If you are relying on the pages of your passport to remind you about Canada's history (positive things only, of course), then you are just plain failing to actually do the work to become an educated, informed, and civically active Canadian. Sorry. The graphic design of this new passport sucks, but not because it's no longer a history textbook... y'all are looking for a fight on this but I don't see any of you putting in the effort to learn and educate others about Canadian history. You're just whining.

To redesign something would mean to try to make a better design, and not a worse design. A worse design should be considered to be revamped into a design that sparks interest. I think a new design might not please everyone!
