Comparing it to Mogul Money is also stupid. Ludwig's channel was like 3 times smaller back when it was released, so if the new show is getting as many views, its actually relatively unknown.

I agree with the marketing feedback. I had absolutely no clue it was happening until I randomly tuned in (on the 2nd or 3rd day? Was there several days? Idek) and had to put some pieces together to realize it was an event/show stream. Mind you I watch most of Ludwig's content, from his main channel to Mogul Mail to The Yard to The Yard patreon. Never heard about Unpaid Intern or an event or a show or even a special stream. Maybe I missed it at the outro of a video or while busy when listening to The Yard, but I feel like something of Unpaid Intern's caliber should for sure be mentioned a few more times in the leading days/weeks. btw I loved the show, I hope we get more episodes/seasons! :)

Unpaid Intern rocked BTW. That said, I feel like his main argument for it not "flopping" was "it did about as well as the first Mogul Money" But I must call some major copium there, MM was years ago, and Lud has gained a LOT more poplarity in the past couple years for events specifically. To me it was clear for two reasons why this show did not get as many views: 1. Lack of marketing 2. Last minute time change from the little marketing they did do He blames the lack of marketing on the trailer not being ready until a week before the show, but I also think this is a bad excuse. You shouldn't be planning the stream date until you have the trailer and marketing material ready imo THAT ALL BEING SAID. I absolutely loved it, if lud is happy with it: who cares, and the next one will be even better

2 things just to mention, the date was chosen based on everybody’s availability so that might’ve been the best time for it and also while might’ve gained a larger following when it comes to KZfaq videos his livestream average is still relatively the same

I mean sure the viewership could've been a bit higher but at the end of the day 50k is 50k. You don't have to grow exponentially for the rest of time for your events to be successful, 50,000 people watching your show all at once is already a dub imo. I do agree that the advertising was ass though, I only watched it live because it happened to pop up on my homepage, I completely forgot that it was gonna happen until I saw it.

Yeah I also thought it was weird that his bar for "it did well" is based on something done over 2.5 years ago. He surely knows better than that. I agree with you, I literally watch all his videos and streams and I didn't know anything about the show or what it was until the day of and I had to look it up myself. I think the show DID do well, and all that matters is if Lud and Offbrand are happy with how it performs. But yeah I think it seems obvious from my perspective that they could have promoted better so I was a little shocked when Lud doubled down, because he's usually good at owning up to a mistake or understanding how something could have been better. So yeah, seems like major copium. But if he and Offbrand are genuinely happy with it, thats all that matters and who cares

@@Ramsey_erdos professional comedians will always be different than most content creators, this is more about seeing your favorite creators do tasks, maybe it’s funny cause it’s awkward or funny cause they are dumb, but it’s less likely to be funny cause of jokes they make. Ludwig said The final task will be improved upon along with various other things. Stanz was great, he doesn’t need to feel like Alex, he did his job well and he was one of the best things about the show. I think people only perceive something as "under advertised" because they themselves wanted to have known about it sooner in order to get more hyped for it. Like people hate ads but having an event constantly pushed in your face does make it feel bigger and more important and it helps the event feel satisfying once it actually happens . It's like, trying to get excited for the premier of a new TV show but then it just plays like any other show with no fanfare. Even if it did good, they want the fanfare to make it FEEL like it's doing good

On The Yard, Slime asked why he didn't end up in Stanz's role since they had originally planned for that. Listen, I love Slime, he's really funny, but this show doesn't work without Stanz. The assistant (or "Alex Horne") role is all about finding the balance between maintaining structure (explaining tasks/jobs, making sure contestants are able to do their best to complete them, introducing the videos) and enabling comedy (telling jokes, encouraging contestants to try weird strategies, allowing for people to make jokes between the videos). On one hand, it's a gameshow where everyone is trying to win, completing "jobs" to the best of their ability, but on the other hand it's a comedy show where contestants should be daring and should fail, and where keeping score has to be second to jokes, so it's a really tough balance to find, and the assistant is the biggest make-or-break in the show. As Ludwig said, Stanz is a really big Taskmaster fan, and has seen enough to have a good sense of that balance and a willingness to play that role. Anyone else would probably end up taking too much attention or being too scared to take enough, or too focused on maintaining the competition to allow for comedy or too focused on maintaining comedy to allow for competition, and any of those things hurt this show. There's a reason why, in Taskmaster, the assistant role is played by Alex Horne, the creator of the show who had previously hosted two live shows with a similar concept: it requires a deep understanding of what the show should be and feel like. Not to make this already overanalytical comment even nerdier but it's the same as being a dungeon master in a D&D game, you don't control everything and you have to embrace what everyone else is contributing, but you need to be the one who has a sense of where the story is going, gently guiding everyone else towards something that is both what they wanted it to be and what you needed it to be. Slime is great, he's more than capable of hosting a show, we all know he's hilarious and he can enforce rules when he needs to. However, no matter how talented you are, this format requires the assistant to have such a strong awareness of the pace, the contestants' dynamics, the audience's feelings, and overall vibes that it's nearly impossible to nail first try. Luckily, Stanz - although understandably seeming a little nervous in the live segments, meaning he's only going to get better as he becomes more comfortable - has that awareness because he's so familiar with Taskmaster. The first episode of Unpaid Intern was great, day one you hit the ground running, and that is without a doubt because of Stanz.

I loved Daniel thrasher, I’m very interested to see how the show might change if the dynamics are different. I don’t want to say this is just “mogul money 2” or anything, but with mogul money the show was very different when the people knew each other well (the episode with the yard boys, miz+sodapoppin), and those were some of the best episodes, but honestly this episode kind of felt like it was better because none of the people were particularly “associated” with each other. You mentioned on The Yard potentially having Almost Friday on the show, I’m interest to see how that will compare to this ep. I feel like a psychopath writing all this down, but it is really cool to see this very personality driven industry intersecting with this type of content, it’s kind of like Jane Lynch’s “Hollywood Game Night” if the guests didn’t seem like they were being held there at gunpoint

Unpaid intern was advertised poorly. I learned about it first from the KZfaq community post like a day (or two?) before the stream. I thought the stream was great but I was thinking that a lot of people could of missed the stream bc they just never knew about it. Call me crazy.

I thoroughly enjoyed unpaid intern. I didn’t really hear about it until I saw the upload but it was by far one of the most creative video ideas I’ve seen in a long time. The commercials? Fantastic. You did a great job man!

Idk why Ludwig is quite defensive/sure that he is absolutely right about the marketing of the show like there are tons of people saying they had no clue about the show before hand. Also he keeps comparing to mogul money when he said unpaid intern was of a higher quality and released now when his fan base is much larger.

It came up in my KZfaq feed about 2 or 3 days ago, I watched it in it's entirety and enjoyed every second of it. I left it hoping there was another episode to follow. Problem is I just never knew or heard about it until it happened to come into my feed by chance!
