Donnie and I join his daughter Darcie and the 4/5th grade class in measuring for a new state record tree with the Maine Department of Forestry. We are thinking of starting a new series where Donnie and I locate, measure and share big trees with you through youtube. Any interest?

There is a GIGANTIC MAPLE TREE on Frenchs Corner in West Gardiner Maine that has to be 25' to 30' feet around the base... NO JOKE ! I grew up in the house that the tree grows over, and i live 150 yards down the road from it now... 923 Hallowell-Litchfield Road is the address to the tree, and it hangs out over the Hallowell- Litchfield Road to this day. It is by far the biggest tree i have ever seen in my life. I am going to measure it now, because im am interested in how big it really is. UPDATE JOE: I just measured that big maple tree at 923 Hallowell Litchfield Road and chest high off the ground it measures 19 ft 2 and 1/2 inches... i used a steel 100' foot measuring tape... ALSO... I was informed by an elder in my family that it could be a silver maple not a sugar maple

20:05 clearly shows its 2 trees. Tree scaling rules any fork below 4.5 feet dbh is considered 2 trees. Guy should have known that. Not talking about the ask you 2 were talking about. I've measured over 30,000 trees.
