I usually keep my ear on the games industry but this bit of news honestly flew under my radar. Thanks for the clear and concise summary on another tragic situation following the string of bad game developer practices we've been seeing in recent times. One reason as to why this was rushed out has to do with business reporting. Products that are released during Q1 of a year are actually considered part of the prior year's fiscal year. In order to inflate their financial reports to their shareholders, LucasFilm pushed to have this game released in March so that it could be counted on their final tally for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Any delay in this release would've pushed the game into the 2024-2025 fiscal year, making the 2023-2024 fiscal report even more sparse on profitability, made even worse by the KOTOR remake being dead in the water, there being no definitive release date for Star Wars Outlaws, and the news of the Mandalorian-based FPS game that Respawn was working on being abruptly canceled. LucasFilm needed SOMETHING to report to their shareholders, and this was it. Not to mention that they're trying to gauge player interest in the franchise for Battlefront III, and begin the process of shopping around for developers since EA and DICE aren't in the picture anymore. Long story short: everything revolves around money. How Aspyr managed to fuck up so badly though is truly baffling.

I really like the bit you mentioned about using this title to gauge interest in future Star Wars titles and think that this could've been also used as a litmus test to see how many people would be the new game (whatever form it may take) Still, really appreciate you leaving a comment.
