TF2 has a bigger problem than Valve's neglect: it lost its identity a long time ago, shortly after it went free-to-play and got a large influx of new players who didn't really care about or like its artstyle and brand of humor, and it's now filled with horrendously out of place and generic cosmetics. The competitve scene demanding balance changes on weapons they had no intentions to allow in competitive matches anyway, and for reasons that can easily be countered with "get good" (seriously, their complaints were mainly that they didn't want to learn to play with and against these weapons) also ruined fun parts of the game for casual players. There is no unified TF2 community anymore, it's all a bunch of warring factions trying to pull the game in different directions and turn it into something it isn't, and they already succeeded at the latter.

i can actually also remember my first game(s) of tf2. the very first time i tried it i was at a friend's house and he was playing it on his xbox, and he let me try after he died. we were defending the 2nd point of the 2nd stage of dustbowl, i picked spy and left spawn, then died immediately because they were capping and spawncamping us. the first time i tried on my own was on my own steam account with an old laptop, i picked soldier because he was the first class introduced in the tutorial. it was frontier and i was on offense, i left spawn and saw another soldier on our team get a sick airshot so i stood there like "woah holy shit," then i got sniped because i was standing still. i think the fact that we can remember this far back in our experiences with tf2 (these were at least a decade ago for me, might've been longer for you) is a testament to how both memorable and engaging the game is. valve really struck gold with tf2 and i don't think there's going to be anything like it ever again, so seeing it be neglected over the years has been saddening. i hope the recent anti-bot measures are a sign of things changing for the better long-term, but im not about to get my hopes up because it's valve.

For me, just game maintenance & bug patches are enough. It's clear that TF2 is in a "final" state where we will likely not (or rarely) see new content in the foreseeable future. Besides the community has been given tool to both host & mod TF2 to both modify & add new weapons & other content they see fit, UNLIKE SOME GAMES.

As Asian tf2 player, this resonates with me. tf2 soul was killed by Valve in MYM. Quickplay literally allowed many Asian servers to have players. i remember even playing hydro or nightfall here. After MYM dropped. not only all of them died but the Asia tf2 community sinked. i see the same people in casual. and it's rare to find a Vet like me. the bots and Valve neglect is a byproduct of MYM and matchmaking. We need quick play back, we need them to undo the many bad nerfs post MYM etc... "Meet your match and its consequences have been disastrous to the tf2 casuals." #BringBackQuickplay

It's possible, based on the cue cards and the lack of follow up questions, that Microsoft only agreed to the interview if Bloomberg was willing to send them the questions beforehand and not go off script. This has the same vibe as a corporate video conference where the interviewer who works at the company "interviews" their own boss.

Blade of Darkness has, overall, a better dynamic than the Dark Souls games. In my admittedly biased opinion. It's nowhere near as fluid or as polished - being in many ways the archetype of the genre - but I think Soulsborne punishes the player too much. Also, strangely enough, while I don't like combos - I much prefer the more familiar system now where any ability can just be activated using a particular button - there is something about mastering a particular set of key sequences to unleash the really powerful stuff.
@b0rk125
@b0rk125 2 ай бұрын
I haven't played Blade of darkness before but after reading your comment I might just give it a try! I also completely agree with you that combo systems may end up being just for style and lack much practical use in combat. A good example of this is Kingdom Come Deliverance, where combos are cool and satisfying to pull off, but are pretty impractical when you can just master strike (block + hit) at the same time, or just parry and hit a basic attack in a fraction of the time. thanks so much for the comment my friend, means a lot! Wishing you a great weekend ahead :)

Some games like the Dark Souls series and other Souls games, use the lack of hit reaction from the enemy to broadcast to the player that they have a large amount of poise. In that context, it makes sense why those types of enemies would not have a reaction to your attacks, as it really does convey to the player that they are either severely under-leveled to be attacking that enemy, or that you'll need to rely on more than straight up brute force direct attacks to take them down.

Hey! thanks for leaving a comment, means a lot :) I agree 100% with what you said here and I kinda wish I thought about it earlier when I was scripting the video haha, I'll keep that in mind if there's another game's combat system which captures my attention. A perfect example of this is the tower knights in Dark Souls 3 which hang around Oceiros's boss arena. Those dudes can take a lot of punishment from all kinds of weapons and only break poise if you hit them with the heaviest weapons/spells in the game. That said, thank you so much again for leaving a comment - really helps out a small channel and points out things I may have missed. Appreciate you and I wish you a beautiful day!

I think shields should have more of an offensive role - one thing I really like about Dragon's Dogma is the way shield-bashing isn't just a viable tactic, but potentially very effective. More options that allow you to parry, feint or disrupt enemy actions without simply hitting them hard, or acrobatically avoiding incoming attacks, would be good.

UPDATE: During my time editing this video together and playing it a little more, performance and stability is still an issue. Gamebreaking bug happened twice now where game audio basically doesn't load and objects are invisible sometimes. Game's still fun, but right now it's pretty rough around the edges. If stability and performance are big things for you when making a game purchase, I'd suggest holding off on buying it for the time being. I'll be covering this more as time passes and will likely make a full length edited video talking about the game in more detail once I finish it and it's had more time to be fleshed out by the devs. @moonstudios sponsor me pls xd

Tbf none of the micro transactions are at all needed and often even a worse version of what in game currency buys you. It looks more like a way to appease Capcom that likely pushed for some form of monetization. Skipping the game purely for the micro transactions is a stupid call here. I for one run a mid range PC (3700x and Rx 6700 xt) and have run into zero performance issues. (well, it crashed twice)

The one save slot is a game design decision as it was in the first game. It is lore related and actually encourages replayability, I NEVER did NG+ in games, the only game I cared enough was Bloodborne, other than that I feel it's not worth the trouble. In Dragon's Dogma, NG+ carries over your itens, XP and Vocation levels, which means a game that was completed in 67 hours (my game time as stated in the credits), can now be completed in 20 hours or so, even less if you only do the main quests. If you care enough about the game to stop your current playthrough, create a different character, play for hours, just to see what a different decision would've led to, then surely you can beat the game first and do all that in NG+, and probably way faster too. Dragon's Dogma respects your time, nothing is lost, you'll never need to face the same problems you had in your first playthrough, because subsequent playthroughs are that much faster and enjoyable. Also, the game doesn't scale enemies on NG+ (at least on the 1st one it didn't, I am yet to start my NG+ of the second), because it defeats the whole purpose of carrying everything over. It makes farming levels, discipline and materials easier in order to get better gear and prepare for the inevitable DLC that will come. The loop works for a lot of people, and I don't think making it as all other RPGs would be a good thing, Dragon's Dogma was and thankfully still continues to do it's own thing.
