My beard has to come off, so what better way to do it than in BOND STYLE! I use the 2002 Norelco Spectra 8894XL electric razor to shave off my beard...the same one that Brosnan's Bond used in Die Another Day to go from shabby POW to dapper spy....will it work? Will there be pain? Find out in this video....!

I remember buying this after Die Another Day came out, it was my final year of University it came in the special cylindrical presentation case. Mines also had a Die Another Day spy pen that could record amd playback memos or conversations. I am sure I have both somewhere.

It's funny, people rip Die Another Day all the time, but it's got a really special place in my heart for a similar reason - like, I remember vividly who I was when I went to go and see it, and it was a time in my life when I was pretty cool, lol.

I've been an electric shaver user for 33 years now, before I used to use blades, the irritation, redness and cuts all the time, even using gel, foam and shaving oil still I got a lot of discomforts, then I tried my first Philips shaver and that was it, now I have a Braun 330 dry foil rechargeable shaver and a Philips series 3000 wet/dry rotary rechargeable shaver, both shavers are just great, the Braun is best if using it every day or a day in between, it will give me smooth and irritation-free shaves. the Philips at its best if I do not shave for more than 5 or 6 days as it tackles the beard easier giving me a wonderful close and clean shave; I splash pre-electric lotion before shaving and the shaver just glides on my face giving me just the perfect shave and I could dare to say it is a close as a manual blade shave.

Great video and I'm actually quite impressed with how well the razor did. Having owned several Norelco razors over the years, I always thought that scene was completely unrealistic so I'm impressed that it actually works. That being said, like you I'll stick with my regular razor and shaving cream to get a close shave.

When I was younger I tried a couple of electric razors, but I've always gone back to the wet razor. Part of it is because I really enjoy the ritual - the badger hair brush, whatever pretentious brand of shaving soap I've bought that month, my Harry's razor which I tediously sing the praises of because hey-guys-it's-a-German-razor-but-like-five-bucks-for-a-box... But part of it is that I've never got a really good shave with any of the electric razors I've tried. Is there a secret? Or is there value to buying the higher end ones? I've only ever bought whatever was cheapest in the electric razor section and maybe that's where I've been going wrong!
@dgomez007
@dgomez007 3 жыл бұрын
@@RolandHulme Hey Roland! I believe that the secret to purchasing a good electric razor is to decide what style of blade (how many blades) work best for your skin. Before I made the purchase I consulted with my Dermatologist for which he suggested to pick the blades meant for sensitive skin. Since the release of this Norelco the technology has gotten better and there are duo electric razors to be used wet or dry. With my experience it is best to dry shave with your natural oil skin rather if using electric razor rather than pre shave because the machine will glide faster and smoother while not giving high razor burn. I am considering doing a video on my IG channel soon to enhance this topic. Let's connect on IG (@dgomez007) where we can discuss this more.

Coincidentally, both Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan liked to sport moustaches a lot when they weren't playing Bond, so even though technically the character never had a stache, it's not hard to imagine.

Awesome idea! I remember watching this a few years ago and thinking "lol I'd like to get my hands on that black magic shaver." Anyone who knows a thing or two about shavers knows that's not how they work. But, as you demonstrated, if you use the pop-up trimmer first and take your time, you could actually do it. Still, not sure about cutting your hair with this though. Also, I didn't know about the whole marketing campaign. I was too young when the movie came out and I'm not from the US either.

I tried this exact same thing about 10 years ago. Electric razors are my nightmare. Since then, I’ve tried the sweat inducing Old-Dog-New-Tricks shave, but my go to is the safety razor. For about 8 years straight, I’ve used the same DOVO Solingen (sorry, no Gillette or Hoffritz) and I’m never going back.

As a baldy I can attest to how good a shave a good rotary razor can offer. If I may offer a few suggestions. First, prep the face with isopropyl alcohol leaving it on the face for about a minute before shaving. This will cause the beard to stand up. Secondly, don't pull the skin. Irritation often comes from the hair trapped under the skin once pulled open pores are closed. Lastly, clean your razor as soon as you can. A bacteria laden razor also contributes to skin irritation.

Definitely try out shaving with a double-edged safety razor. Although it may take a little more technique to use it, I always find it provides a completely smooth result. Bonus thing is that it's cheaper in the long term as the razor handle itself can be gotten anywhere from $15/$20+ and the blades are so cheap as well (boxes of 100 blades can be bought for as little as $8 - so 8c per blade).

Norelco’s intro line is not that good, 5/10. Yet, as you go up it is considerably good. I get a stubble, more than a beard which can actually be tricky for an electric shaver. I use a Norelco nowadays (cuz Die Another Day, of course 😂) is kinder to my skin compared to a safety razor. I would recommend any man to give it a try to de electric razor. It keeps the “ritual” and traditions of shaving in a different package. PD to David, if you use the trimmer upside down works ridiculously faster and efficiently! Haha 10/10 review!

You did acknowledge it, but what an exercise in futility. A $20 beard trimmer with guards will take a beard down to stubble level in ten minutes. Follow up with a razor shave and done. I know this as I’ve done it. No muss, no fuss 🤠... Those trimmers on electric razors are really only good for sideburn trimming in my opinion.

You definitely did this the hard way. For a start I was cringing to watch you use the trimmer the wrong way and instead of cutting low on the shaft you held it almost 90 degrees to the skin. Did the fact the trimmer kept collapsing not give a hint it should be used going down not up? Oh well. It was still weirdly entertaining. 😜
