He is just the prototype Number 10 with him being the perfect match for that role, i doubt we will ever see anyone like him again. A player which you build your team around and give total freedom on the pitch, because you know he will deliver even defensive work if needed and do magic going forward making everyone better around him. He cut his career short with his own mistakes unfortunately, but is rated the GOAT by a lot of people that saw him play anyway. That alone just shows how good he really was. Imagine his career without his private mistakes, there would be no discussion if he was the GOAT.

The way the ball sticks to his legs, he is meant to be with the ball, like 2 mechanical parts designed to work in tandem, and the elegance, the zeal, the grace, the energy, he knew his game those eyes say it all. Pure Genius, I still don't find any player even remotely near his talent.

People who seriously think messi is anywhere near maradona's level are beyond deluded.maradona was on a completely different level and was one of the two players to have won the world cup singlehandedly and he almost did it again in 1990 world cup but lost only due to a controversial penalty,he played the entire 1990 world cup with a swollen ankle and an inflamed toenail in addition to which suffered from back spasms and still played despite his doctors advising him not to.this shows what he great leader he was.he didnt even reach his prime due to his serious ankle injury and cocaine addiction which caused a severe decline in his overall condition.

@@kip8230...True, Neither Messi nor Maradona can light a candle next to Maldini when it comes to Defense...there are videos of Messi also tackling players successfully, doesn’t mean he is a great defender.. Even Messi’s Arch Rivals like Sir Alex Ferguson and Sergio Ramos have stated Messi to be better than Maradona but sure lets listen to a couple of nobodies in the internet 😂🤦🏻♂️ Don’t get me wrong, Maradona is in my top 3...but he lacked the consistency, longevity and discipline to be considered as the GOAT imo..

Pls just inform yourself if you don't know who HITC sevens is, it has a reason why there are memes about him like "next top 7 left footed players that played on a thursday in the 4. division of new zealand." You could actually think that he would make such a list quickly with his knowledge and some research.

That is because you didn't watched him play and you have only been shown 3 minutes or less videos of him here and there. I didn't watched him play either but I have watched full games videos of him at Napoli and Boca. He NEVER stops running. NEVER. He was literally, every other player's double. That is when the opponent is attacking the left back, Maradona is there to double on the opponent in support for his left back, the same would happen when his rightback is being attacked, and every where on the pitch. When any of his team mates wins the ball, he is the first to position himself to serve as an outlet for them and take the pressure off them.

I always thought Messi lacked that part in his game, and I was a great hindrance at his productivity in the field, specially in world cups. Well, at 35 years old, Messi not only won the world cup, but also was the best player in it, in great part because he showed an unrelenting intensity and compromise without the ball that I have never seen in his career. Catar 2022 was the most Maradonian performance of Messi because of this, he was the first defender out there. He was helped of course, an maybe even inspired by Julian Álvarez the total football player of the future at his side, and also by Van Gaal once correct but now infamous words "he does not participate in the game when he does not have the ball".

But later he became very poor in Pressing and improved in playmaking. f9 Messi was more a balanced and dangerous Messi than these days, and 2015 his most complete version. But even at peak he was never prime Diego,, prime Diego was a monster

His ability to make opponents think they will steal or keep control of the ball is bewildering. I can't believe how confusing, exhausting and mentally trying it must have been to face him, the same might be said for his team mates. His unpredictability is so astonishing because most players can never imagine like him, NO player can imagine and execute like him. His talent is truly beyond compare. Nothing comes close. Nothing.

It was nightmare - I heard some interviews with defenders of his time playing against him. They just all wanted the game to be over as soon as possible, no matter the score. It was embarrassing for most of them most of the time.
