I've got one mounted in the generator bay in my fifthwheel. I'm off grid in North Bay, Ontario. I saw -29c a few times this year. I ues it to heat the bedroom in the nose of the trailer at nigh only. 10L(2.5Gal) is about 2-4 nights(8-10hours each) on a medium setting(2.6Hz -3.2Hz continuous) because the controller doesn't reach into the room. I dont mind the clicking, it's a trade off for the propane furnace($$$ and power hungry). Looking into a heat pump, I've got 1500w of solar with loans for another 250-500w. Batteries are the limiting factor. Lol

When mounting the pump under my van with the heater at floor level and feeding from the main fuel tank, I found that it's impossible to not break that 'upward flow' rule. I did some testing using the 4mm ID / 6mm OD silicone tube that comes with a lot of the kits and it always formed air bubbles that got trapped over time. I replaced my tube with nylon pneumatic tube which is safe for diesel (2mm ID / 4mm OD). It's so thin you can see the fuel being pushed along the tube with each pulse and it purges any air bubbles very quickly. It's too thin internally for any air bubbles to form and get stuck, even though the pipe snakes up and down around the underside of my van. On a side note, if anyone is mounting the pump outside using the rubber bracket that comes with the heater kits, they perish so quickly. I've tried a few brackets and they lasted no more than six months each. I always tied some backup para cord around the pump in case it came loose when driving.

@@madetoexplore Nice! Thanks for the reply! To avoid having the fuel tank inside my van, I'm planning to mount a small tank inside the engine bay. @madetoexplore
@madetoexplore 2 жыл бұрын
@@kylehowe2698 sounds good. Keep in mind the expansion and contraction of the fuel tank from the engine temperature. No you shouldn’t have too. There’s 4 holes- exhaust, intake, fuel line, fuel pump wire

I did it very simple to ours. Use a car radiator hose. I am into the automotive sector. So i could get one what perfectly fits around the pump. Only the connector part could not fit. Put at the other site whats is free another thick rubber hose into the bigger one so that a lot of the pump is covered with rubber. Big difference according old situation. You can hear it ofcourse but a huge difference than before and at a very comfy level. Think simpel……

I was looking at that radiator hose solution as I am currently installing my kit. My only concern was the heat buildup from the pump. Whilst running should be fine but when you turn the heater off and pump its not working so no diesel cooling at that time but may have residual heat.
