Waiting on the Eco-Diesel Jeep? Well they are out and I got a chance to test drive one at our local dealer. Here is my full review on this Jeep Wrangler and I even touch on the Gladiator coming out soon. Is the price worth the MPG or the towing?

My Ecodiesel didn't even notice 37s and still gets 24 to 27mpg on the highway. I think the JT with a Ecodiesel is going to be interesting.

Brother in law is a Chrysler diesel tech. He warned me about this particular motor. Said it has all sorts of electrical issues. While he didn’t get into specifics, he told me not to buy anything with the eco-diesel even though that’s how he makes his paycheck. If you guys have questions, I can ask him for you. Cheers.

10k miles on my Diesel Rubicon with Beadlocks 37’s, 2.5” lift, non stop off roading with zero issues. No regearing needed because of massive torque, but only about 5-6k for DEF refills. Very few current wrangler ecodiesel owners would choose the hemi over it. Survey was done in a group

For the guy that will ever do a v8 swap it’s a smart option of your doing 40s and 1 tons lifted. 4 grand as compared to a 7 k supercharged that in sure wears on the motor. I’m with you tho on the v8 tho I went with the LT1

Running 40s on stock gears and I’m at 20-22 mpg. Motor is a beast. 12k miles and zero issues. Getting about 6k miles per def tank.

Sam E it would definitely benefit from a regear, but I’m not going to do that until I go Tons. It still sees 8th, but won’t hold it like it did before. I can’t imagine the mpg getting better then it is now.

I've had mine since the beginning of May I love the power and torque that's at least until your radiator radiator hose sprung a leak and now that part on a global backorder with a minimum of 90 days before they can get one if I'm lucky.😡

Thx for the vid - I would love the 6.4 Hemi coming this year - no way $80K fits in my budget right now though so.... I may just have to sacrifice to the diesel to get more torque....

OK own a 2019 JLUR 3.6L penastar 8 speed auto and gets just under 300 miles in the city on a 21gal tank. My wife drives a 2020 JLUR 3.0L eco-diesel with the new 8 speed auto and gets over 400 miles in the city on 18 gal tank. On the highway trips she gets 200 more miles then I do. So imop that is a game changer. Completely agree with torque in 4-LO.

Available to buyers NOW Jeep came out with the alternative to the underpowered, low torque 3.6 Yes I don't think anyone could argue hemi badass but it's not available probably never will be because of crash test. Diesel + 4k on the sticker Ruby Dana 44s front and back heavy-duty brakes heavy-duty transmission,, + extra soundproofing insulation firewall makes it a quieter ride over the 3.6. My sport with AT gave average 29 MPG now 35 MT average 21 MPG, headwind with uphill grade or Mountain Roads used to suck now it doesn't even FaZe this Beast. Night day over my 3.6 JK so far worth every penny. Hemi-got 20K? Agree need some extra Under Armour skids waiting for aftermarket.

Watch tfl truck do a review of the eco jeep. The dragged it against the gladiator and ram rebel of theirs and the jeep has pep. Also the pulling power compared to the gladiator was better beating it at its max tow. Yes the jeeps suspension didn't handle the tongue weight as well but ez of pulling was not a factor.

Chipped the rubicon diesel out. 350 hp and 510 ft lb of torque. No issues with 37s. 28 mpg. Get 650 miles per tank. Gas engine of the Jeep is definitely boring. I do think if they throw the 392 gas engine in the Jeep.this may bring some more excitement your way. We will see how the 2.7 liter twin turbo gas engine does in the new broncos.. I will stick with my diesel. Thank you Fiat/ Jeep. I did hear Peugeot just purchased Chrysler. Who knows what will happen now

4xe is the "game changer", when it comes to the future of 4x4. As price decline on battery technology and more people buy electric, you can't beat electric motor simplicity. I probably won't be able to enjoy the benefits, but future generations will. Diesel hybrid makes more sense, but youll have to take in account the heavy batteries and all. Love your videos!

Appreciate you saying if you would buy it or not, for whatever the reason. With all the V-8 conversions out there, if Jeep comes out with the V-8 would you still follow the first year "rule"? Always great info!

Its a leftover from the RAM. If jeep wanted to put a good diesel in the JL platform, they should go with an in line 4 or in line 6 diesel. Best diesel to put in any jeep rig is a 4BT. Small and bukoo power. Also, no electronic anything on it, they last forever.

Yeah it's really disappointing that there's no diesel for the two-door.....that could be a interesting engine swap though Crossing the fingers for the 392 to be available in the 2 door as well......but I won't hold my breath

Based on my rides in two diesel JLs one on 40s and one on 37s, the answer simply is power on tap at all speeds without the need to bury the go pedal and without the engine screaming back (especially the V6)

James Pugh it’s a question of cooling allowed by the flat frontal area as opposed to the ram. 6400lbs will be the rating for the sport and Sahara and the rubicon will be 6000 but in comparison to the v6 pulling 6000, it’ll pull it like a freight train

the 4 door is a bummer for me, but the automatic only is the nail in the coffin. why would jeep only offer it in a 4 door automatic??? I've been waiting on this for YEARS... but i want it in a 2 door manual!

I am at 26 gallons of DEF @ 10K miles, running 38's. The DEF tank is almost empty again and needs to be refilled.

I have an 2006 KJ CRD, and a 2007 WK CRD. Every Wrangler is a Jeep, but not all Jeeps are Wranglers.

I was very excited for the diesel but after watching this and a few other reviews it doesnt seem worth it. Older jeep with a 2.8 swap would be more cost effective. Or get a hemi and when it goes get a newer hemi that cuts cylinders and still gets mid 20s mpg. Just cant justify the cost.

I really wanted to wait for the Diesel JT, but I could barely afford the Pentistar Sport I ended up getting. I can't even fathom the kind of money you need for a Diesel JT Rubicon. Gotta be touching 70k easy. I think Ford is going to take a chunk of the market when the Bronco comes out. Those Ecoboost motors with the 10 Speed are pretty awesome and if you can do 35in tires from factory you will be able to do 37in easy, maybe even 40s if the lift come out.

I have to question the cost of maintenance for example 200.00 for oil and an oil filter and add in labor your looking at 250.00. I will stick with gasoline. Just my opinion

With the hemi coming soon, everyone will want that over the diesel. Hopefully then the price will go down on and be competitive with V6. If anything, Jeep will discontinue the EcoDiesel within a few years. On paper, diesel is the way to go, but in practice; it’s too much added weight and expense to justify a Diesel engine.

Yaseen Elberier it is only a concept for now. But if Jeep doesn’t deliver on the Hemi, then it negatively impact the brand. If the Hemi Wrangler doesn’t happen, I would assume their will lose big chuck to the new Ford Bronco. The problem I would be worry about is if the Hemi Wrangler may or may not be exactly like the concept vehicle.

It sounds awful as those 2,8 VM JKs that were available in the EU. With the 392 wrangler on the horizon I don’t get why would anyone get diesel, well, maybe they target accountants?

Finely a factory diesel turbo option. Even being the 3.0L ram 1500 engine. Being this 3gen engine from 3.0L work lot issues out of them so for. But their is a hemi version on way for v8 power? And gladiator is slated for 3.0L update also? How will this compare to the new ford bronco for 2021

I’ve already ordered a 3L JT. For me even knowing a Hemi is coming, the difference in mpg between those two will surely be vast. There’s also no idea on the cost delta but I’m guessing it’ll cost $5-8k more than the diesel up front and then get 15 or less mpg

@@mattbrew11 I'm with you. Bubba gets his fuel right out of the Derrick's. I pay $.73 a gallon tax for gas. Ordering a diesel gladiator sport plus Max tow with adaptive cruise control and hard top.

im honestly sad that i couldn't get a diesel version of my JTR cause.............i would probably even be saving lots of MONEYZ in the long run :( Edit-Forgot to mention my (Beautiful to me)sting gray JTR is only on just a mopar lift that i got FOR SUUUUPER cheap on offer up for just(wait for it)...........400 Brand spanking new but besides that i have the truck on 35's and well for protection i got some control arm mount skids,fad skid,and thats really it and i use it offroad all the time but i wish i had gotten a diesel version whenever i got the darn truck cause you know...........the wife hates me whenever i tell her how much fuel the truck uses and i get 13mpg and i drive it like a granny dude and i just dont get it (it probbaly doesn't help that i used to race so my definition of driving like a granny might be different lol)

Well until they get the hemi factory option. This is is your best bet. Built Jeeps on stock engines are fat little piggies for daily driving. Diesel should help.

I like better gas motors. Diesel motors are Heavier, noisy and the diesel stinks. The advantage is the capability to cross water and some fuel economy.

Jeep should have a HEMI in it for 47k. This price point is much higher than Bronco too.

That's gonna be the best thing about the Bronco, Jeep is gonna have to be competitive for the first time in decades lol. We might just see more fully loaded rubicons for like 45k and bare bone sports for 20k or less and that's fucking cool.

They're direct competitors, midsize truck based utility vehicles meant for offroad use and right now the bronco is priced more reasonably than the wrangler is, logically you'll see Jeep lowering prices to try to persuade people to buy wrangler over bronco. Especially since a bare bones sport is currently starting at 28k for a vehicle that doesn't even have AC.

For off-roading I'd rather have a diesel that gets better range per tank so I don't have to carry extra fuel. Still I'm going for the V6 Bronco next year.

@@Exodus4x4 Yeah... you might want to have a friend subscribe and try to get notifications. As something is not setup right. The actual message says "This action turned off for content made for kids". It gives you a "learn more" link that tells you that "made for kids" video's have special restrictions. Such as notifications and/or comments being turned off among other things.
