I love everything about this video! The fact that you dont show your kiddos is amazing to me! Soooo many vloggers make content around their children and it drives me crazyyyy! I have a 7 and 4 year old myself, and I completely agree... they are NOT old enough to consent to an online presence. Also.... those "mommy potatoes" are going on my menu this week! 😂 🤤

I love and support your channel . 🎉and it’s always a pleasure watching your videos, thank you for sharing! Also I am an Italian moved to Canada and I can totally validate your feelings about tomatoes. Tomatoes in Canada are just sad unfortunately 😂.I am also a dietician with past eating disorders myself and I love and appreciate so much when professionals share valuable, science based content with such passion so thank you again for this.If I may comment on one thing tho, I might be over analyzing because it’s a one day eating and it doesn’t mean anything of course, but, the Abbey I know would have commented same way I believe 😂 (after lunch, if you where feeling you missed a little carb action, which you did, would have been better to go for actual carbs instead of a nuts, and seeds bar, that I know it had fruit in it but still…) but perhaps is part of being balance just as much to not eat many “carby carb” all the time. 😊

Hey, Abbey! I haven't had any form of cereal in years in fear of it. I've been diagnosed with BED and I feel that over the course of trying to lose weight and stop binge eating that I have also developed orthorexia, though I haven't been officially diagnosed. With that said, after watching your videos on turning fear foods into hunger crushing combos, I've finally been able to enjoy cereal without any guilt or triggering feelings to binge eat. I've been enjoying a sprouted grain cereal, and I'm going to try introducing other types of cereal because with the sprouted grain I still have it in my mind that it's healthier than other kinds of cereal, and I feel the more and more I eat this cereal the closer I'm getting to enjoying cereal of all kinds when I want to. Honestly, without your videos I would still have this burden in my life. Whenever I wanted cereal, I would either eat nothing, all the while hearing obsessive thoughts about cereal in my mind all night or I would eat something else and end up over eating or binge eating. That is not me anymore! I appreciate everything you do and I hope you never stop helping people.

Hey Abbey! Could you do a video on Hedonic Eating? I read about it in a blog post once; basically it’s eating hyperpalatable, sugary foods for pleasure/bc it activates the reward centers in our brains. How do we uncouple association of a hypersweet food with the reward pathway? I’m trying an intuitive eating course thru my Uni and it’s helpful! But I am overeating a lot of sweets now that I’m relaxing my food rules.

I’d love to see a video about how to approach healthy weight loss for someone with a history of disordered eating or a past ed diagnosis. ❤ personally, I’m overweight and have been for 5 years since adopting healthier food habits. But no matter how healthy I start off with wl, as soon as I start seeing progress, my ed behaviours return. That’s what’s happening now… lost 20 lbs in past month and now I’m full on weighing foods, tracking calories, restricting, etc. which I started off not doing.

As a Nutrition Therapist, I would say for Weight loss with Disordered Eating 1. Focus on Health, Not Numbers: Shift your focus from the number on the scale to overall health and well-being. Instead of fixating on calories or pounds lost, celebrate non-scale victories such as increased energy levels, improved mood, and enhanced self-confidence. 2. Ditch the Diet Mentality Challenge diet culture and embrace a non-diet approach to weight loss. Reject restrictive diets, rigid meal plans, and harmful weight loss tactics. Focus on sustainable lifestyle changes that promote health and well-being rather than short-term fixes. 3. Address Triggers and Coping Mechanisms: Identify triggers that may exacerbate disordered eating behaviours and develop healthy coping mechanisms to manage stress, emotions, and triggers. Engage in self-care activities such as mindfulness, journaling, or spending time in nature. 4. Set Realistic Goals: Set realistic and attainable goals for your weight loss journey. Focus on making small, sustainable changes that align with your values and priorities. Celebrate progress, no matter how incremental, and be patient with yourself throughout the process. 5. Engage in physical activity that brings you joy and pleasure rather than viewing exercise as a means of burning calories or losing weight. Explore different forms of movement, whether it's dancing, walking in nature, or practicing yoga. 6. Reach out to a healthcare professional or therapist who specializes in disordered eating or eating disorders. Having a supportive team to guide you through your weight loss journey can provide valuable insight, coping strategies, and emotional support.
