Today, I wanted to show you the difference in different straw materials
Here at Fashionable we have one of the largest variety of straw hats available
Straw hats have many benefits, they are natural and sustainable, but most importantly they absorb harmful UV rays, protecting your skin
The first type of straw is called Rush Straw made from Rush grass.
This straw style has a thicker weave and is stiff but has flexibility to it most commonly this straw is made into a Lifeguard style hat. This is great for the beach or pool.
Here we have the Shorebreak by Makai, and you can find them on our website by typing Makai in the search bar.
Next we have Palm Straw, which is made from Guatemalan Palm Leafs. These hats are durable, waterproof, and great protection against UV rays. This straw is ideal if you work outdoors and might get a bit sweaty because you can easily wash it with soap and water. This hat is called the Explorer by Sunbody.
Our third hat here is Seagrass which just like the name, is made from actual seagrass from the ocean floor. Seagrass hats are usually loosely woven, making them breathable, they also absorb moisture, making it perfect for outdoor activities. This hat is called The Terrace by Stetson.
Our next hat is made from Raffia straw, which comes from raffia palm trees and produced from the membrane on the underside of the leaf fronds.
Raffia is extremely durable & flexible and easily returns back to its original shape if crushed, making it great for travel.
This hat is the Castaway by Walrus.
Number five on our list is called Milan straw - just like the city
Milan is pretty easy to identify, because it is braided or woven in different angles, like you see here.
This hat is the Rosebud by Dobbs. We have this hat available in 7 color options
Hemp straw is next on the list, That right I said Hemp. Hemp is a tough plant with long linen fiber with a porous weave making it breathable and antimicrobial, so it won’t hold mold or odors. Hemp straw makes a great looking straw hat
This hat is the Inwood hat by Stetson
Next is a more unique straw called Sisal, which comes from the Agave plant.
Sisal is a strong, durable fiber and is mainly used in the production of tough things like ropes.
This hat is the Summertime Stroll by Dobbs. Comes in 3 very cool colors
Last, but certainly not least, is our Panama straw hat.
Panama straw comes from the toquilla plant in South America - it is actually handwoven in Ecuador and not Panama.
Panama straw is tightly woven and is a great repellant for sunlight and water.
The finer the weave the longer it takes to weave and the more expensive they will be.
This hat is the Parson Hat by Bailey.
These next two hats I am going to cover BONUS hats because I like you guys so much- they’re not made from 100% straw, but they are almost identical to the natural straw
Our first BONUS hat is a Toyo straw hat.
These hats stem from Japan, and they are made from rice paper yarns, with a light, smooth touch.
Our last bonus hat is made from Shantung straw.
Known to be durable and similar to panama straw, shantung is one of the more popular types of hats sold because this material looks great and is affordable.
