He also failed to go into *why* fedoras are so prevalent in that SUB-CULTURE. I'm no expert, but I'd imagine it stems from traditional western dress and etiquette (always wearing a hat) sticking around the Caribbean a while after it had passed in the US and UK. Jamaican immigrants came over to the US and UK wearing hats and bringing with them their music, thus the hat was infused with that culture.

The thing is, the fedora is very much a formal-looking hat. It's an accessory to compliment a formal-looking suit, not a t-shirt and jeans. I genuinely believe that if people wore it with a suit, rather than casual wear, it wouldn't look nearly as bad. It would still look bad due to the neckbeard reputation around it, but it wouldn't look quite _as_ bad. I do wish that people could make more of an effort to dress nicer, but I am hardly one to speak. Besides, there's a reason why formalwear fell out of fashion: it's expensive, a pain in the butt to maintain, and just generally uncomfortable to walk around in. I think the closest we can get to a modern fedora, for the time being, is the humble hat. Just plain old hat. _Maybe_ a flat cap, if you aren't over the top about it, but even that is pushing it.

Honestly I think Fedoras still look great, and _are_ socially acceptable (if it works on you). It’s _triblys_ that are associated with cringe culture so much nowadays, people just think that a tribly is a fedora.

@Liel Goldshtein What’s the difference between Chabad and Yeshivish fedora styles?
@lielgoldshtein9453 жыл бұрын
@Adam the Chabad fedora has a sort of eye at the top compared to the yeshivish hat with a line
@Adam330673 жыл бұрын
@@lielgoldshtein945 Thanks. I see. They have that tear drop shape. The Chabadniks seem have a lot more flare than the Lithuanian gentlemen in general. The Yeshivish hats seem more rigid and their suits seem ill fitting compared to the Chabadniks. Is it just my observation or is their a reason for less of a regard for style? On a personal note, my grandpa is from Ivye, near Radin. He even met the Chofetz Chaim. He said that Chassidim look as they do now but the Litvaks were meticulously dressed in fitted grey suits. Is there a reason for the change? I wish I could pull off a fedora but I find that only Orthodox gentlemen can do it. What do you wear? Please forgive me if I come off as ignorant. I mean no offense. Good Shabbos.
@lielgoldshtein9453 жыл бұрын
@@Adam33067 thanks i am currently in Israel where Shobbas ended, Good dvauch, yes us chabadniks you could say have a flare somewhat, that is amazing that your grandpa met the chofetz chaim i don’t know why yeshivish have a duller dress code and i don’t know the reason for the change i will look into it i wear a fedora and suit jacket but no tie and a white shirt. But so you know you don’t come off as ignorant i have also learned a thing or two more about myself through this so thank you, and you probably can pull it off. But also if you don’t mind me asking what do you mean only orthodox men can pull it off, are you religious or do you know a lot about chassidic dress code? Thank you so much
