This is honestly a cool idea. Here's a concept of a Agumon and Gabumon that'll be apart of the Virus Busters field. I've always felt like decks based on fields was inevitable. They could make decks that are Based on the Digimon found on specific old Digimon v pet toys, or more lines like gracenovamon that use some other group name to allow for greater variety and cohesion in decks. I'm curious where this will go.

Ive always viewed the colors being the family fields. So far they all fall into each category quite well. Except for Nature Spirits and Wind Guardians.

The different colors already cover most of what the fields are supposed to be, grouping digimon based on their associations and environment of choice. Nature Spirits were kinda spread around the colors, so it makes sense to implement this system for them. The rest, not as much. Would end up redundant for most of them. As for 3 color digimon in general, I like them as long as we dont go crazy with it and keep them to like only 1 a set at most. I also hope they stay as a top end only and we dont get something silly like 3 color lvl 4's and 5's. I feel that could really start breaking game balance.

Hope when they realy commit to do this field base digivolution, become theirs excuse to explore almost forgotten digimons, maybe we can finnaly see gallantmon x [blast mode] into the tcg. This gallantmon is exculsive in the v-pet, i think it was accel series but i forgot which one, hope he make his first appearance soon or later.

Honestly I was expecting the color system to reflect feilds however that didn't go that way. If they do, I know my friends would like it to be more supportive of generic effects. Which I can see. Being cool if they allow for more varied decks in the game rather than the more homogonized low end searcher, lvl tamer play, lvl 5 boost/removal, lvl 6 boss effect, lvl 7 win button formula we have for each deck.

The way I see it, the fields have usually been a way to categorize different types of Digimon into matching aesthetic buckets. That way, if a player really vibes with a specific aesthetic, there's a whole field of Digimon that could appeal to them. For instance, I find I tend to like the angelic/heroic Digimon and the ones that represent natural creatures and beings, so I am drawn to Virus Busters and Nature Spirits, while my boyfriend loves the dark and spooky side of the franchise and so many of his favorites happen to be Nightmare Soldiers. When you play a game like Digimon, you put a lot of yourself into it, and being able to have your deck connected by these aesthetic fields is a great step towards player satisfaction. In a different timeline, the fields could've been folded into the game from the start, either alongside or in place of the color system. I like the color system a lot as a way to guide gameplay mechanics into different buckets while the fields guide the aesthetic values into their own buckets. I think a yellow Virus Buster deck would play very differently from a red Virus Buster deck, but the Digimon you'll be using will feel like they all connect to each other even if the colors make the decks play differently. Maybe rather than evolving from colors, Digimon should evolve from fields, but that's just a what-if. I worry it's kind of late to introduce fields now, especially with how they seem to be doing it one per set; it might be years before you see your favorite field represented. I think this is because the fields have sort of become ancillary to the whole franchise, unfortunately, and they may have even genuinely forgot it was an option until now. Either way, I think fields are a great way to help players feel more invested in their decks, and I think while the game may be becoming a little over-complicated with so many black box text for unique evolution shortcuts or additional rules like adding traits that didn't fit, but this is a thing that honestly should have been in the game from the start, so I find it difficult to say this is too much. I just hope they do something fun with it, is all.

Ngl, I figured the colors were based on Fields, like Green for Nature Spirits and Jungle Troopers.

Until I watched, I was thinking you meant Field cards like DBS or OP (or even Yugioh I guess)

When the game was still new i thougt the fields would be represented in the colours. e.g. Agumon as a card is red (dragons roar), black (metal Empire), yellow (virus busters) and green (nature spirits).

For me, it sounds like it would mostly just create a distinction between 2 archetypes that would normally fall under the same color. Like Deep Savers have no reason not to be blue in the first place. And if everything is blue, then the special digivolution cost is meaningless. As a comparison, in Yugioh there is a type called Wyrm. Its pure existence is to print more cards that are in LORE/ARTWORK a dragon, but not by TYPE(because dragons are already a big bundle of powerful staples that could break any dragon deck later on) We already have the types and barely use them. But that might also be because most types/colors are also align with the theme(most yellow cards being angels and therefore vaccine)

It’s a great idea. Like you said, it would have to be well researched before making those cards.

They should not do this, we are getting way too many gameplay relevant traits and the cards can not have 10 rule boxes to add to the already long list of traits. Also they havent fully explored the traits we do gave like vaccine virus data. Also this game is getting too far away from colors being relevant and bandai just choosong how the decks are built through intended sinergy
