Yes, this is a common love song, and it is sung in a 'normal' range for Dimash, except of course from the ad lib pyrotechnics near the end! This is an incredibly important song for Dears mainly for two reasons - the first of course is the astounding whistle note, the D8, which is completely OFF the end of the piano keyboard. It's not on a guitar either. It isn't a particularly nice sound to listen to, but it does show how high Dimash can reach. He can tap into his whistle register and does so in some songs. So far this is the highest note we have even heard him sing. Many people call him the dolphin whisperer because of it. Apparently he was aiming for an octave lower at the time... The second reason it is important is that he wrote it as a teenager, and it is the first original song, and indeed for the most of us it was the first Kazakh language song we ever heard him sing, so it has a special place in our hearts. In concerts, he often sings it with the Dears. Those of us who don't have good memories take the lyrics on our phones so we can read them and sing the chorus. It is always a very special moment.

This performance, Dimash hit the super high whistle note of D8. He basically whistle with his throat and sustained it for a good 5 seconds. D8, by the way, is higher than the highest key on the piano. I saw another reactor who is a vocal coach actually measured the sound of Dimash's voice with a sound meter and confirmed it that it was indeed D8. Super incredible. Oh, and that whole thing of him waving the microphone was to prove that he is indeed singing it live and not lip syncing, as there were some people out there who didn't believe he could sound so effortlessly perfect every time. Yes, Dimash composed this song when he was still a teenager. What a talent! Remember, Dimash came from a very musically talented family. The world record for highest note (by a man) is only 2 notes higher but that was done by a guy sitting in front of a microphone forcing out short squeaking sounds and it was so unclear it had to be confirmed electronically. Dimash’s D8 here was in the middle of a performance, was clear, it was sustained, and even had a bit of vibrato. Amazing.

Dimash performs a whole range of songs at his concerts which sometimes last three hours. He couldn’t possibly sing one demanding emotional song after another. I don’t think the audience could handle it either. We would be emotional wrecks. So Dimash sings a few ‘pop’ type songs, even dances a bit. There are a couple of his Kazakh songs which have no extreme notes but are so beautiful. Quaragym-ai or Amanat, fall into that category.
