My takeaway from two years of BTS is this, every song has a story. 99% of them reflect their hardships and their achievements regardless of the negative, hate and oppression they received over the last ten years.

We always watch MVs multiple times to catch everything because Big Hit and BTS put easter eggs, hints or references in almost every MV. In this one there are multiple references to previous MVs in the dancing, the table, etc...

I absolutely love this song, it was one of my first faves (and my daughters - some of her first singing was “oh oh oooh oh” 😂 I’m pretty sure the CGI thing is true - it’s one of the first things I heard about it. You’ve gotta love the savagery behind it - like, awwww. You think we use too much CGI? Have some more and kiss my a$$ 😂👌 it speaks to me. YASS. You do what YOU want, because people just have a habit of sticking their noses in other people’s sht. In terms of idol “rappers” getting a lot of crap, it’s because under most circumstances, idol rappers don’t write their own stuff, and it’s kind of softer rap (I don’t agree with them, but I understand that “logic” behind it) Rap tends to be a very personal genre, it’s beat poetry, designed to portray various emotions from past events of hardship (REAL rap is anyway.) essentially, underground doesn’t think idol rappers should be considered rappers because they don’t have the experience of a story to make it worthy. Completely ignorant of the fact that this is yet ANOTHER reason BTS is an industry anomaly. So why I sorta see where they’re coming from, I certainly don’t agree and certainly don’t condone it. One of the Artists that said this in particular of them, then TRIED to go mainstream, failed (I’m sure ARMY had absolutely nothing to do with that 😏) decided to assault someone who just said they didn’t like his music and now he’s in prison 🤷🏻‍♀️ who’s the loser now?

Just a comment on Idols in Korea. Most agencies hold auditions for new trainees (not idols) these trainees are auditioned for their dance capabilities and their looks. They need to be thin, good looking and dance well. If they pass that they then audition to see if they can sing if they can't they put them in rap groups again all of this is trainees. These trainees then are taught to dance daily, they take singing lessons, and rap lessons (mostly diction and learning to talk rappidly). Sometimes they do this during TV shows, sometimes it is just for a weekly or monthly evaluation. If in these evaluation you fail you are out of the trainee period. In the end the agency picks out the best of that season and makes them a group to debut. Those that do not get picked either stay in the trainee program or they get failed out of the trainee program. So when an idol debuts the people of Korea see them as a manufactured product that at times they have voted for they have in essence produced so they feel that these groups are not people with lives but products that the country of Korea have produced thru their music shows and trainee programs. Now we talk specifically about BTS, they were not all subject to the same time of audition process. Some of them came from different agencies training program some came from Big Hits audition for rappers and some were auditioned individually like Jimin. When they came into the trainee program they all thought they were going to be in a rapper group but then they decided that they would be and idol group because of the 4 singers. This group did not spend years upon years training (some did but in different agencies) they had less that 4 yrs of training RM being the 4 yr trainee. Some people in other agencies at times spend up to 11 yrs in training. So BTS was not the norm but they too because they had the Idol name were looked down on as being a trained preformer but that was not the case with them and this was always a bone of contention with the world of kpop for BTS.

LOL! I was talking to a friend the other day about this video. I told him I have a few guy cousins that love their trees, but after awhile they get so relaxed and paranoid at the same time. If I could stand the smell which gives me a headache and not get contact high just from the clouded smoke, I would show them this video. The dance practices are always awesome and hypes you up, but the MV's and them on stage live is even better. Your moment with Jimin's Set Me Free is what ARMY calls a "clown"🤡 moment when we see the most tenuous link there is and start going into meltdown with all the theories. If you are ARMY just be prepared that clown moments gonna be part of your life. I have two recommendations! Idol live at MMA 2018, there's also behind the scenes rehearsal practice for it. It's they say f it one more time and bring literal whole troupes to the show BC they were criticised for being too international and forgetting their roots.. Another that is a perfect balance of chaotic energy and consummate professionalism is my favourite dance practice, Baepsae. Just know that they added a challenge for whoever lost the rock paper and scissors at the start.

Hihi idol wasn’t a Favourite for me at first.. I watched the MV reactions from a few people and it grew on me … but is when I watched the explained video that I really started to love it.. after that I saw the South African reactors DXWXT and I loved their joy at the inclusion of the gwara dance moves …. It was great The track Ddaeng that caught your interest has a great explained video which is a must… the fire explained is also great…. I want recommend Save Me and the shooting sketch of save me together for one video… the video is a one shot and they made it in horrible weather… inspiring…

I can't choose bts any songs as my fav . because all are favourites to me.. But idol have a special place in ma heart. Coz it was the first bts song make me an Army.. I just watch their videos before.. But i don't go into their music.. Because it's not ma type. But after watching a concert shorts of idol, suddenly my army mind born 😂 after that their songs entered in me one by one

There are some SPECTACULAR live performances of Idol... Including one that shook the stage, one in hanbok in front of an actual palace, one very famous one at an award ceremony. It's such a brilliant clapback. Oh, we're not Korean enough? Some of this song can't even be translated. Have some traditional dance while we're at it! There are a ton of things in there that they got ridiculous criticism for, and I love it. I also love that their big comeback is "I know who I am and you can't stop me loving myself." No hate, just pride and defiance 😁 There's a rap line song (Ugh) that goes well with Idol - it's a different take on a reaction to the same meaningless hate, but lands somewhere just as wholesome in its own way. I love it.

I have seen it coming for a while but this is the video where we finally witness your realization that the “BTS rabbit hole” is more like a complicated subway system. There are trains that go to universities, dance halls, film studios, some even go to whole different dimensions in space/time. Welcome, brother. Head to that booth over there so they can stamp your fare card. Ride as long as you like 💜

A few extra things to add. Idol is not a compliment towards kpop singers/groups in South Korea. They're generally looked down upon because typically they're just manufactured and involved in a capitalist industry designed to make money basically. BTS are artists, but technically they're also idols. If someone calls BTS idols, its typically used to belittle them. Idol is used in a derogatory or condescending way. Which Is why i think it's so unique that the song is titled idol and not artist or something, because they're almost self deprecating themselves so people can't use the word idol as an insult towards them because they don't care. Next, Pale skin is a beauty standard in korea, you're bullied if you don't have it, but if you do have pale skin you're also bullied because you're the odd one out (and the more tanned skin people gang up on you, probs jealous) and yoongi has really pale skin so he'd often get mocked as being like snow white hence that's why he wore that shirt I believe. Then, A couple years ago (before idol) someone commented to namjoon on vlive (an app kpop idols used to use for live streaming), whilst he was live, that he should stop using funny filters so I believe he used them in this video to say you dont have control over me. Also, I'm not sure abt this one, but when they make a ring of bts member faces or duplicate the members when they're dancing I believe that could be a clap back at people who say "theres too many members" or "they all look the same". I love idol, it goes so hard at concerts 😭

The very petty part of me loves how this is a total f you to some criticisms they’ve gotten. Oh you have issues with green screen? Here, have a complete fever dream. We’re turning too western? Things DKDKTV didn’t mention: The Snapchat filters on RM are because people criticized him for using them in his livestreams. The Bugs Bunny sweater on J-Hope and the dancing inflatable guy are because he was called too skinny, gawky and “looks like Bugs Bunny.” The Snow White sweater on Suga are because he was called too pale. The outfit on V with the suspenders and the repeated grampa like suspenders dance moves are because people said he dressed like their grandpa because of his love of classic fashion. The feather fan and sexy dance moves of Jimin are because he was called too feminine. The super colorful nature of the video is because some of their previous videos were criticized as “too colorful.” And so on… Basically they leaned hard into their critiques with a big middle finger to haters, saying I don’t give a f**k what you say.

DKDKTV makes some awesome explanation videos. In this case however I personally disagree with their comments about the clothes. It's even more specific than this! Suga was critisized for being too pale (=Snowwhite shirt), J-Hope for being lanky (=Bugs Bunny shirt and balloon man), RM for using funny filters during his Vlives, V for the specific shirt he wore here, those specific glasses and haircolours, etc. XCeleste's explanation covers all those group related details; she really knows her BTS on an almost scary level! 😅 But you can always watch that; it just adds yet another very personal layer to the insane amount of symbolism in this mv. 😏 Btw, were you sick and/or really tired when you filmed this reaction? I won't suggest any video for you to react to because I've read the comments and I'm pretty sure it's overwhelming for you and it will be as you go along with your Journey with BTS and ARMY. There are so many BTS contents out there. A lot of ARMYs would be willing to guide you through it. Also, ARMYs are over protective of the boys because they've been receiving hate since their debut and even before that, until this very day. You might encounter some negative comments here and there.
