I would not trade my American Dingo Carolina Dog for ANYTHING! Best dog in the world. Works with me every day in woods and fields in the Green Mountain National Forest. I sure would like to get him a buddy, another like him.

Didn't know CD/ADs could have curly tails. The one with the curled tail and huge ears I would have guessed Akita-mixed. GREAT DOGS. My boyfriend found an abandoned CD 6 week old puppy at a landfill. Rover ( clever name, I know) lived almost 16 years! They were bestest friends. Been two years and he STILL can't handle the mention of Rover

The term "dingo" originated with Australian dingos but has now been extended to include dingos with geographical distinctions, such as "Thai Dingo" and "American Dingo." Wikipedia has a good write-up. I tried to post the url, but it generated an error. Please do a wikipedia search on "Dingo" to read more.

Will this ever happen again? I have a Carolina dog. she is not great with other dogs if they are on leash. I don't know if I could bring her to Point Isabel. I would defiantly love it though. Great video, so exciting.

Osiyo! They do look like Dingoes that's why they got the nickname, alot of people gave them other nicknames as well, The one who originally re-discovered and named them, said, "you look like a dingo" which moved him to do further research. They were found in South Carolina inially so they got the name Carolina dog but they are found throughout the southeast so what do you call those found in Georgia, Alabama etc; American Dingoes probably not Carolina Dogs, but either would be appropriate. peace

Forgot to mention my BF lives In south Carolina, so Rover could have been a puppy to a wild pack. Carolina Dogs ARE considered wild fauna in SC

GOOD GRIEF! Nowhere in the video does it say that Carolina's are "scientifically classified a dingo". In fact I've never even heard of anyone who make's such a claim. "The American Dingo" is their nickname for obvious and well documented reasons. Owners will continue to call them that in spite of one lone protest. If that bothers you, then you'll just have to take your own advice and "get over it". Now you are fully informed.

Read what i said. "The term 'dingo'" -- this is not the same as the sub-species "dingo." The English language can be quite nuanced. It this context, "American dingo" is a nickname used to indicate the aboriginal origins of Carolina Dog. It does not mean that its taxonomic name is Canis lupus dingo. As far as Wikipedia is concerned, don't dismiss it outright. You can learn a lot about the integrity of the information from discussions and references.

Reading the outrage over the title using the word dingo. I can only imagine how that person must react when they see the name "Catahula Leopard dog". ahahah There is no Leopard in those dogs!!! or Cats. And it doesn't matter. Dingo is ok to use.. most people know it's term used for dogs that came about in a similar way to the Dingoes in Australia. And there is no Doodle in the Labradoodle.. but I can only imagine the outrage that would cause.

HAHA! There's always at least one clueless imbecile in every crowd. They can't (or refuse to) get a clue. I just hope no one comes up with a Dingo-Doodle :)

"The American Dingo" is a nickname for the Carolina Dog. "Preliminary mitochondrial DNA testing performed by the University of South Carolina's College of Science and Mathematics shows a possible strong genetic link between Carolina Dogs and other primitive breeds like the Australian Dingo." Do a little research before you post and then you wont sound so ill-informed.
