This is the first PNSO model in a while I'm wanting to just immediately buy as it comes out. I'll definitely be picking it up along side the Eofauna Diplodocus!

In recent times I have gotten much more into dinosaur collecting, and this is going to be my first PNSO model. Your videos have been very helpful in deciding, and I hope I made the right decision with this ZT!

Beyond the undisputed beauty of the model, in my opinion the best tyrannosaurid of the PNSO for the quality of the details, for the dynamic pose, I am really fascinated by the scientific part of the video, I really appreciated the explanation of how paleontologists determined a new species of tyrannosaurus from the few fossil remains of the skull found. Congratulations indeed for the great job you do in these videos. I hope the Zuchengtyrannus model will be available on aliexpress worldwide soon, I absolutely want it in my collection :)

Thank you for all of the great information! Definitely with you on wishing PNSO would focus more on species with more known material, but happy that it could be a reasonable stand in for a T. rex since it is a really nice model.

I would love to see this family expand, maybe alioramus or basal like dryptosaurus.

I'm gonna be honest: the coloration scheme is one of the more thoughtful and captivating ones from PNSO to date. And they sure like their Tyrannosaurids! Hope they do a Daspletosaurus.

Another amazing and valuable review as always. Those scales and the skin details look so amazing. And of cause the color scheme. Even though the color scheme is a bit overused now, I think this is the best color pattern we can ask for. With Torvosaurus and Tarbosaurus we got the gray color scheme and I really can't imagine Zhuchengtyrannus in the color Gray. And especially, thank you so much for posting those articles. Imagine if Wilson had similar texturing to the Zhucheng, it would’ve been the perfect T. rex for a lot of people.

Being the fifth tyrannosaurus in two years I’d prefer a bit more variety in upcoming releases . Majungasaurus, Austroraptor, Dilpohosaurus, or Irritator would be most welcomed for my theropod wish list .

What a great review! Love the comparisons, that is a great looking trio of Tyrannosaurs there! I also like that you include some "on menu" dinosaurs too! By the way, I don't think the hues would be as soothing if Lu Xiong were chasing you through the jungle!

I must say I was pleasantly surprised to hear that there's another person who takes note of fossil completeness before purchasing a model, I thought I was being too particular (so far I've only gotten Biber & Rook, which as I understand are pretty much anatomically perfect). This is, absolutely, a fine looking animal. At least as far as the conjectural visual artistry on PNSO’s part due to very limited fossil material to work with. Having said that, this will be joining a family/pack diorama with Andrea. Not knocking Wilson off his pedestal, restless scale sculpt and all, just saying Lu Xiong really does complement her better. I like the idea of taking the striping down to, essentially, only the tail. Thank goodness for PNSO but I’m going to need a second job! I have a cast of a Tyrannosaurus maxilla that I bought from Mary Odano’s Valley Anatomical company years ago and found myself using it for secondary reference as you provided the very welcome in depth analysis of what’s where and how it makes a difference as juxtaposing one tyrannosaurid from another. Still the best done reviews going. Thank you for taking the time and effort to do them.

Very nice figure. I totally agree with your point on the sparcity of the fossil evidence on this particular model. As with almost any aspect of science, the greater the sample size, the more reliable the outcome of the study. Applying that to the reconstruction of dinosaurs, the more bones from different body regions available, the better the chances of making an accurate reconstruction of the whole body. Taking into account the lack of actual fossils of the limbs and torso of this species, as well as having proportions that are pretty close to T. rex, I would also just take this figure as a younger and better detailed version of Wilson 🙂

This is the bes St. Valentine's day EVER!! I loved this video for the huge amount of science in it, it isn't just a simple unboxing, it's like a documentary, and so your others too! But about the model, I'm not do sure I'd buy that... the quality of PNSO is decreasing recently...

Finally! I was waiting on bated breath for this review. Yet again, a fantastic look at a fantastic model. And thank you for explaining the autapomorphies that distinguish Zhuchengtyrannus. I've tried long and hard to understand how this taxon is different from Tarbosaurus and Tyrannosaurus, but with all the complicated terminology involved (and my own lack of perseverance), to little avail, so to have such a clear explanation is a blessing! Thank you! As for the model itself, well it's a PNSO model, I think that says enough. This is in the Goldilocks zone in terms of muscle; the Tyrannosaurus was a bit too lean, and the Tarbosaurus was absolutely juiced (compared to the rex, I just wish the rex was muscled like the Tarbosaurus, I liked the bulk on the Tarbosaurus). The Zhuchengtyrannus looks perfect though. I was hoping they'd make a Zhuchengtyrannus, but after they made their Tarbosaurus, that hope was a bit sated. More recently, I'd been hoping for an Albertosaurus, like you, but I was still excited to see this, and I am gonna buy it ASAP. I also hope they make a Xiongguanlong, the only other model is by CollectA, when they were still making Nicki Minaj-esque theropod models. Stay safe, and Happy Valentine's!

Since it's known from such little material I heard that Zhuchengtyrannus might not be a valid genus but just a synonym of Tarbosaurus

Nice model and fore sure this year the 100th Version of Willson T.rex will appear with matching skin ;D And I saw in Andy´s Previews there will come the first Model looking like Fleshy Sue... but it´s Scotty. Whatever... important is... a realistic Rex and noth the 5th million JP rex.

Zhucheng looks like it definitely has a stronger bite than tarbo, comparable to t rex (or do we just say “t” now, because of the 3 species of t rex now?)

i believe this is the body tarbosaurus would have had if he had to eat for really long time and was searching for food and this zunchengtyrannus here is perfect because i cant really recognise any fat areas, only bulk made of muscles unlike the tarbosaurus belly and the base of the tail so the two of them not only are both tyrannosaurids from asia but also capture different individuals that had different luck when it comes to prey i will get this one for sure i always liked zuchengtyrannus and its easily my most favourite tyrannosaurid

Zhuchengtyrannus is better than Tarbosaurus.

It really seems like the paint jobs on PNSO figures are a little bit hit or miss on an individual case basis - some seem to have phenomenal paint jobs while others have some obvious sloppy elements to them - strange, but even so, they're WORLDS better than, say, Mattel's Jurassic World line for the money. I just wish they'd actually go a bit bigger - 1:20 or 1:15 scale I think would be better - 1:20 scale would mean that a T. Rex would be a bit over 2 feet or about 0.7 meters long, which is sizeable but not TOO overwhelmingly big like Mattel's Super Colossal Giganotosaurus which is about a meter long (3.28 feet), and even in the case of a 28 meter / 90'ish sauropod, you'd be looking at a 1.4 meter long animal at that scale which is BIG, but at least justifiable given that it's a sauropod. I think if they did that, it'd be worth the inevitable price increase because it would allow for EVEN MORE detail and more careful paint application whereas the 1:35 scale is small enough that slight mistakes can easily be made when working at such a small scale. Anyway, just a thought. I'd love a 1:20 scale line, and I feel it'd be perfect, but honestly the 1:35 scale also works for those who don't have a house (like myself) who move a lot and don't have space for so many big figures. BTW I'm guessing from your pronunciation of Zhuchengtyrannus that you are from southern China (specifically if I had to guess, somewhere in the region around HK), am I wrong? I say this because my wife is too and there's that softer pronunciation of the ZH and CH sounds ;)

agree with you, not a fan of a model based only on a few bones fragments. Like, how could you interpolate how the dinosaur look based on those few bones alone. More of a pseudoscience imo

DANG that's a good offer from pnso, some of their earlier models left some bad taste in my mouth *cough* *cough* Centro and iggy *cough* *cough*. Only thing that bother me is the very dark paint on the feature scales of the mouth, as well as lack of wash that tarbosaurus has. Also speaking of the fossil remains I have some pictures of full zhuchengtyrannus skull, as well as some leg parts and hip bone. If you want me to show them just hit me up on Instagram, username is the same as here. Going back to the figure, skull looks very similar to the whole one preserved in the dig site, though it looks like binocular vision of this figure is a bit exadurated.
