Having had the honor of meeting and hanging out with Ronnie a few times, he was a class act, a very sincere and compassionate man, and one hell of a singer! I miss you man. 🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇

I worked on the crew for Ronnie James Dio's US / Canada tour in the late 80's. What a hell of a nice guy. Gone too soon.

I never had the chance to hang out with Dio, but I did get to catch one of his shows in Dallas in the early to mid ninetys. Right there front row center, leaning against the stage. It was a great show, man. And what a powerful voice too. Its like he was a lung with feet. Little dude with a huge voice. So much power and he really played to his fans. It was like he was happy to see us. Happy to see each one of us as individuals.

I had the pleasure to party into the wee hours with Dio and Vinny back in ‘92 when they were w/ Black Sabbath. I was playing guitar in a touring band called ‘Lazarus’ and Sabbath happened to be playing the next night in the town we we were playing (Flint, Michigan) that night and those two (along with their tour manager) came to check us out. Ronnie and Vinny stayed late, signing autographs, while we were tearing down/packing up our equipment. Our singer, on a whim, asked Ronnie and the guys if they wanted to come back to our hotel room and party and Ronnie actually said, “Let’s roll!”. We smoked pot and drank beer until 7:00am. Ronnie sat between me and our singer on the hotel room dresser while Vinny sat on the edge of one of the beds trying to score with one of the many strippers we’d befriended earlier. He got shot down at every attempt. Lol. Ronnie was the most polite, wise and down-to-earth human beings that I have ever met. He truly enjoyed our company and answering any/every question we asked him. I’ll always cherish that night...er...morning. 😂

Got to see Sabbath twice with Dio & Appice - '80 & '82 ~ on the 1980 'Black & Blue' tour with Blue Öyster Cult - what a wild night - both bands were on fire - each night they switched off on who closed the show - on my night BÖC was first - and they were loud - then Sabbath came out and re-defined LOUD ~ forget Spinal Tap amps going up to 11 - the Sabs had ones that went up to 111.

I saw a Dio show in the early 90’s where they blew up the keyboard as part of the show. I legitimately thought I had just watched the keyboard player die. What a great show.

RIP, legend. You’ve never seen a man that was so iconic, yet so “normal”, and nice to the people around him.

I hadn't heard that one. That's pretty funny. There was one in Black Sabbath involving talcum powder and a hair dryer that was also pretty funny also with Vinny.

saw dio and vinny back in the day, vinnie was on those classic dio albums "holy diver" and "the last in line". with dio until "lock up the wolves." a criminally underrated record with 18 year old rowan robertson.

I like stories like this. It's not all about the stage show
