The full version of The Love Boat performed by Dionne Warwick and mixed by Cut & Thrust.
If you remember The Love Boat, you will no doubt remember that Jack Jones sang the theme tune for 8 out of the 9 seasons that ran from 1977-1986. For the 9th and final season (in 1986), Dionne Warwick sang the theme tune and, while many say that Jack Jones owned it, Dionne Warwick’s version is, in my view, the best.
While Jack’s version had a polished commercial release on 7 inch single, to my knowledge, Dionne’s version only exists as part of the opening titles of the 9th season and, due to this rarity, was therefore a candidate for a Cut & Thrust remix!
In case you didn’t know, The Love Boat was an American romantic comedy/drama television series set on board the MS Pacific Princess cruise ship and made by producer Aaron Spelling - whose TV shows included Charlie’s Angels, Hart to Hart, Dynasty, Starsky & Hutch, Fantasy Island and many more.
For this remix, I have used the opening title theme tune and the instrumental music used for the end credits - both from season 9. The lyrics were written by Paul Williams with music by Charles Fox.
No copyright infringement intended. This is a tribute remix born out of my love for the show and childhood memories. Copyright belongs to Paramount Television/Aaron Spelling Productions/Paul Williams/Charles Fox.

This is a true thing: my dad’s over the moon for Dionne Warwick, since he grew up around her and did concert work for her, too. He even had the blessed privilege to do the same for her late cousin, Whitney Houston. So with that, he had such fond memories with them, as well as remembering their classic songs, throughout their careers!

I always preferred the original jack Jones version of the song, to be honest however the older I get, the more I like her version. There's no denying that Dione Warwick can sing. She certainly can

Love Boat composer Charles Fox just received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame... and the induction speech was made by Love Boat lyricist, and Fox's good pal, Paul Williams.

'The Love Boat' was set aboard the Pacific Princess, a real-life luxury cruise ship which embarked each week on a romantic, sentimental and often humourous voyage across tropic seas. Paying passengers were invited to participate as extras.

After the series ended, Gavin MacLeod, who played the captain of the ship, did a series of television commercials for Princess Cruises in the late 1980s to early 1990s, with the slogan, "It's not just a cruise ship, it's The Love Boat", as spoken by Gavin Macleod. Ther might be some of those on KZfaq.

@@kenyattasimpson8468 Yes, they used this version in the 1985-1986 and 1986-1987 seasons as well as made-for-television movies through 1990. The show began as a made -for-television movie in 1976 and was based on a book called "The Love Boats". The series began in 1977 and went through 1987, then the few made-for-television movies through 1990. At the time they began using this theme in 1985, Dionne Warwick had returned to the syndicated variety musical countdown show,"Solid Gold", which was a weekly countdown series that Dionne was on in the first season, 1980-1981 and the 1979 pilot 2-hour episode and then was on 1985-1986. The show had 332 episodes from 1980-1988, with singer Marilyn McCoo, one of the originals from The Fifth Dimension host or co-host from 1981-1984 and 1986-1988. Both singers are most associated with the "Solid Gold" series.

As someone who isn't the craziest about covers, I actually like Dionne Warwick's rendition almost as much as the original version. It actually made sense to update the theme later in the series to go with the more upbeat 80s.

The most clever thing I’ve ever heard! I’ve always wished there was a cleaner copy of the Dionne Warwick version! This is outstanding! I hope Aaron Spelling is watching down and enjoying! I’m sure it was his idea to call Dionne and ask her to come in and recut the main title in an effort to refresh and revive the show’s appeal! She probably recorded her vocals in a couple of hours or less and they laid the back up vocals backing tracks and music later! THIS IS AWESOME! MIXING THE END TITLE MUSIC, WHICH WAS ALREADY CUT AND EDITED FROM A LARGER CUE IS JUST BRILLIANT! Dionne was a busy bee around this time with the song Friends, plus Finder of Lost Loves and Lifestyle’s of the Rich and Famous theme songs!

@Jo Face Yes! A great song Written by Burt Bacharach and Carol Bayer Sager Bacharach there are three release versions that I know of Warwick solo Warwick with Glenn Jones and Warwick with Luther Vandross! One of my favorite Dionne Warwick songs that only us true diehard fans know and love!

@Jo Face Yes, yes, yes! That deluxe version is where I learned the song had different versions. (There are also two live uploads of Dionne singing the song in concert. They’re spectacular to say the least! I think it might be another couple of versions that she sang live on late night TV shows! The other song I think is: It’s You! I love the beat of that song!!!! I also recall on the original Finder of lost loves album there was a song that Anita Baker recorded also that same year on her rapture album! I always found that two people covered it was odd
