Simple Living Alaska

3 жыл бұрын

Perseverance pays off on our annual dip netting trip to the quaint town of Chitina and the wild Copper River. These Sockeye salmon are well worth the effort loaded with extra fat for their long journey and the turbid waters they traverse. We take our catch and fire up the pallet smoker back at the cabin to preserve these prized Alaskan fish.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

Why does everyone hate on captions, though?
@FlyingBeachman1
@FlyingBeachman1 3 жыл бұрын
@@madeleinec147 Well, it takes away from the flow of the video if your channel is about day-to-day life or telling a story. If you're trying to tell a story, let it just happen. Also, it's redundant as the youtuber has likely already said what name/place/dish it is that they're about to show so what's the point of also adding in a caption. I think captions are only necessary if it's a non-speaking type of a channel.

@@nw_blessed1404 Interesting viewpoint. Mine is not from one post but from almost all if not all of them. Arielle shoots the moose, cuts it up, carries the parts around and then cans/freezes. She lifts the logs, totes the loads as best she can at the new lake cabin. She gets up with hub, seems to be pretty busy with the day to day stuff, drives her own sled, and though not a perfect shovel user, never lets up. Watch her move gravel, compost, manure and the like. In all of this, she is generally enthusiastic, excited about life, hopeful about outcomes, is gentle with her words, kind to her pets, and by my book, I think she is a fine lass but I can find all the pretty faces I want here in Las Vegas that cannot shoot or run a snow blower. She is Eric's wife, I do my best not to covet anyone's stuff, most especially their wives. Not flaming on you, we try to keep it civil and nice on all forums where good folks hang out. Hope you stay around to get a year or more of this couples life in your memory bank. Have a great day. Bob J. in Nevada

What a great intro. The scenery you capture is stunning. BTW I have a few favorite parts in this . Of coarse the scenery. Another, It took me a while to stop chuckling when Arielle was climbing up the path with 40 lbs of fish in a back pack . I like that Eric was making available and using a form of fall protection, and the wear life vest. Cutting and cleaning the fish was also a favorite too. It was very considerate of you all for showing this video with fishing. I know you have a lot of work to do with winter season on your mind. Thank you.

Oh my gosh... that had to be the best utube video I have ever watched, and because of my back surgery, I have had time to watch many! I love Alaska, my parents loved living there, and it would have been heaven for me to live there, but sadly they moved back to Ohio before I was born, as my one grandmother was kind of having a fit that she now had two grandchildren, and only had gotten to see them once! I was number four a couple of years later! I'm coming back as soon as I get my two places to where I can leave them!!! I do have to say it was great to come vacation for a couple of weeks with my parents and see a lot of Alaska while they were still with us! The stories and pictures I will remember forever! I do have to say that I still remember all of my great grandparents and grandparents, and not many can say that! I was so blessed to have grown up with all of them to a very rich, wonderful childhood! I guess you can't have it all, Ohio is a long way from Alaska! I wish I could have had both, but family is always more important!!! I got to grow up hanging out on wonderful farms with all of them!

I rather miss being up there. I was a lot younger, your age i would guess. When I was there in the early 90's. Three years was not long enough to see all of Alaska. Loved camping of the Talkitna Road. The Ground hogs would try to get into every thing ! Love what you are doing.

We just got back from the Smokey Mountains and I swore I would never go back! I felt like I was going to fall off the Earth but only while in a vehicle. On my own two feet it was beautiful and breathtaking! Ariel is such a courageous and powerful woman! A role model I would be proud to show my children!! oh yes and Eric too lol!!

Typical fishing, just have to keep trying. Then bam! And In seventy years of outdoors, I never met another American sportsman that would not go out of the way to help fellow sports. I have also passed on the favor. I would have expected no less. I have spent a good amount of time in Alaska. No strangers in the outback. I could tell a great story of my own about sharing with another pair of hunters on a trip that turned hungry for both teams. We supplied the the sheep loin for a great breakfast and they had the rest, of the needs in the middle of nowhere. We ate a whole loin rain and shine. As good as I ever had! Laughs and all! Thanks two those Alaska hunters.
