I have to disagree with you something about his 58' Les Paul brings more emotion to the song, that is why he should always play "Brothers in Arms" with his 58'.

nothing wrong with the Pensa, though some would say its an abomination. Who would of thought of making a guitar that sounds like a Fender and a Gibson, suppose with is age and doing a lot of small gigs it better dragging one guitar than two.

i said it before and i'll say it again. i don't believe that there ever has been, nor ever will be, ever, a guitar performance, so strong, so powerfull, so deep, and cutting through so many layers of emotions, with such powerfull message, as this single masterpiece, ever. It's so legendary, so historical, and so emotional, i think this deserves to be called a 'wonder of the world'. The atmosphere and the entire performance transcends through so many levels of superhuman performance and is only more goosbump infusing amazing due to the humbleness of Mark Knopfler. This performance alone deserves a nobel peace prize.

What happens here is wonderful! He dedicates the song to Mandela. At minute 0:26 he is so emotional he can not talk. At minute 2:26 he has to dry his tears and his voice trembles and at minute 7:50 he can not talk either. This is magic. An artist crying with his own song because the meaning of it. A musician is not someone who plays an instrument, but someone who makes you feel. Music is not a product, it´s something that comes from the heart. That´s why he is one of my favourite, that´s why this is one of the best versions of this song and that´s why I love this song.

This guy is just something else. He speaks with the guitar, he sings and the guitar answers, and what a heart-felt song, this isn't some virtuosistic solo played for the sake of playing, it's a message, a meaningful one too, and most of it wasn't expressed with words. The only other artist i know that could express things that well and in such an organic way (and with a handful of notes) is BB King in his later years. Just WOW

Mark uses his fingers to pick the electric guitar! So he gets this incredible sounding "cry" or "moan" that imitates a violin often. I think this technique attributes to the vocal quality of the guitar which literally makes me wet :) Just...an amazing guitar player

So sincere, got tears in my eyes. I was 22. Magic times, everything seemed possible back then. Dire Straits were the biggest band in the world in 1988. Knopfler looks humbled and quite emotional.

WW2 At age 19 in the 14 th (forgotten) army’s Burma Campaign against the little known horrendous Japanese conflict (the memory of which is forever real) “Brothers in Arms” could have been written for us. It will be played at my final exit from this life. “Every man has to die”. Thank you Mark. GOD bless you. Vic’.

I was 9 when this went out live and have never forgot the hairs standing up on the backs of my arms and neck. 30 years on it still does exactly the same thing. One humanity, one justice.

i was 14 and supposed to be studying. but this performance, in fact the whole dire straits concert changed my life forever. i was later influenced by a whole bunch of others, but if you want to learn how start phrasing, dire straits 1st album is as good a place to start as any. facebook.com/alistairrussellmurray/videos/4631428063969/ please don'y reply because i do not open them

When I look at his sad face, I become sad with the realisation, that one day, this man will have passed away. :(

Every live version of this song is a masterpiece. My favorite guitar solo all time; and that includes compares with Hendrix, Beck, Clapton, Buchanan and many others. This shit is moving; I never get enough of this song.

Per me questo brano è il più grande. Lo ascolto da decenni e ho sempre sensazioni che non riesco a tramutare in parole. IMMENSI.

Mark Knopfler was inspired to wtite this incredible song after the senseless violence and loss of life of The Falklands War . Sadly and very powerfully it still resonates and pierces the heaet to this day. War is not the answer. God bless
