I make myself a sketch book. The Paper is from Kinkos "parchment". This is a simplified method that works for me. The purists will have a problem with this but I am okay with that. Enjoy and decide for your self. Thank you !

Jimmy, You never fail to impress and inspire me. I wouldn't worry about the "purists" regarding any project you decide to embark upon. Why? The "purist" is simply someone with narrow focus, not able or willing to open their mind to alternative ways of doing things. No one would ever accuse me of being a purist in any arena, and I certainly hope you will never succumb to becoming a purist either - after all, then life would be boring! This one is an oldie, I know - but since I just watched it for the first time - it's new to me. Thanks again for posting videos of your projects on KZfaq. I've enjoyed every one of them that I've had the pleasure to watch thus far.

Man : you got style. I literally loved the idea of carving the cardboard with the logo and pressing the soft cover paper into it. It's art ...

Materials needed: 1. Binding board(get acid free) on the web $15 - $20 Sizes .067"--.098" makes 2 books 2. PVA glue (Elmer's or regular binding glue). It's called Copydex in the UK. 3. Fabric, or leather 5. Exacto knife, Tape measure and Square 6. Clamps and boards 7. Book cloth (may also be found as binding cloth) 8. Not sure what those little stitched ends are called 9. Really sharp scissors (Upholstery scissors for leather) 10. Stencil 11. Folding tool (should be bone, or really smooth plastic) for creasing and as squeegy 12. Paper (usually glossy for front and back cover sheets, but not mandatory)
@thecultofpop9 жыл бұрын
The stitched ends are bookbinding headbands. Also, the glossy front and back covers are typically called endpapers.

THANK YOU. I am an avid writer but was constantly getting a headache. And it turns out I am dyslexic and have a sensitivity to light and reading the black text on white pages. So, the fix is to write on yellow paper, but there are no nice journal books in yellow paper so I've been improvising. Now I can make my own books with yellow paper so my headaches will stop when I'm trying to write. You are awesome!

Nice job! I love to watch Your videos. Small binding advice: Dont put glue all the way to the spine of the book when attaching the covers, leave about inch without glue, and make that first paper quarter of an inch shorter. When you open the book it is than not under stress and moves freely. Best to check on wery thick books. Loving Your work
