Gattuso was an aggressive player and sometimes - without premeditation - lost his head, but he was not a dirty player. I think this idea is widespread among people who do not closely follow Italian football because of his caveman appearance, but in many occasions (not only on the pitch, but also as a coach) he proved to be a true sportsman, even though not the "sophisticate type" of sportsman. :-)

True, he was also good with the ball in his feet, could deliver some very nice lobbed passes and I saw him dribbling and going on 1v1s as well. I agree he was fierce but he was not dirty per se. Believe it or not, Totti was much dirtier than Rhino Gattuso.

You guys need to look up Kevin Muscat, from Australia and ended lots of careers, I heard one story in Australian NT youth training, a player beat him in a 1v1, the next time Muscat took out his knee, I forgot the kids name but he was never the same. Muscat was also voted most hated player in England when he played there

I add on every one of these videos ‘where is Kevin Muscat?!’ The guy was sued for a violent tackle, was called a low life by Ian wright and Peter crouch admitted on his podcast that he’d threatened to break his legs. Literally was known as the most hated man in football

The problem with this head-butting is that both opponents place their forwards like bulls or kids against each other...and one of them (or both) fall down, without even getting tapped, holding their heads in pain. The ref always falls for it.

I would never call Gattuso a "dirty" player. a player who takes no prisoners and is very hard in the tackle. If you are calling him dirty for losing his temper then 99.9% of players must be dirty.
